My mom has just had an operation and I am compelled to do household chores. I found her at the kitchen when I got home from the office, and so I helped her cooked lunch today.
They say that ladies who can't do household chores, and basic cooking, are only good at bed. Although I am very confident about my bedroom skills, I never want to be tagged as such. I have a degree in hotel and restaurant management, but it is ironic that you will seldom see me in the kitchen. Probably only when I am doing the dishes, or just checking the cupboard and ref for eats.
Right, so what we have for lunch is Pinakbet. How do I do it?
Sautee onion and garlic.
Add tomatoes.
Add a tablespoon of bagoong isda (available in your local market).
Simmer for a few minutes. Now we are ready to add our veggies.
Add squash (kalabasa) first.
Add ampalaya, talong, sitaw and okra.
Add kangkong last and cover.
Let it simmer for a few minutes.
Serve with pork chop or friend tilapia!
