The Martys

March 24, 2013

Have you always wanted to be a rockstar? In my case, I just wanted to be a rockstar’s girl. But seriously, my parents don’t have a very nice story about a certain “rockstar”. Anyway..

Back in College, aside from dreaming of getting your degree and diploma, we have this secret dreams that we try to reach, little by little, and so we joined groups. Cheerdance groups, bands, Photographers Circle, etc. You bet, I was part of the “newsletter” team.

Last week, I witnessed how young College students reach for their dreams (and mic and guitars) and be part of a band called The Martys.

A few months ago, Oishi called for aspirants from different colleges to bring together four lucky winners who will be part of the newest band (The Martys!), and tour together and win Php100,000. Awesome. So it is not just one band from one school, but the band could be composed of members from different schools.

And so, the finals was held last week at the Eastwood City Mall.

Hosted by the ever witty Ramon Bautista

Q&A portion. The band members need not only good at tunes, but must be articulate too..

And after that, these kids started rocking and rolling..

Other local bands also performed – PEDICAB, RADIOACTIVE SAGOPROJECT, EBI DANCEL, 6 CYCLE MIND; but I missed them because I have to run to a meeting. Good thing, my office was just two cart-wheels from the venue. 😉

And finally, the new members were revealed – Sud Ballecer, 22, University of Santo Tomas as vocalist; Nokie Dalangin, 17, from De La Salle University, as lead guitarist; Bam Butalid, 21, Asia Pacific College, as bassist; and Tian Malubay, 17, STI, as drummer. There were supposed to be just four winners, but Oishi Marty’s probably cannot miss a girl’s charm –  Eunice Grace Gatdula, 17, from the Asia Pacific College is the band’s second vocalist.

Congratulations and Great Job, you guys!

The five were selected from eight finalists shortlisted by a panel of judges, which included actor Ramon Bautista, rock advocate Gang Badoy, and celebrity Saab Magalona.

As expected, Oishi products came pouring on my hands and lap. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to take pictures of it – they went straight to my friends’ desk and everyone enjoyed the Oishi Martys!

Who doesn’t love Oishi?! I am inloved since I was a kid from Kirei and to the newest flavors of Oishi Martys! The Chicken Inasal is goood! The Smart C (lemon) is the bomb!

Here are some Oishi Products we mostly looove!
