So, I was back in Tomas Morato (Manila, Philippines) last week for a get-together with some of the best writers of When in Manila I have been writing for When in Manila for over a year now, but I rarely get to attend hang-out sessions.
|Papa John’s name sounds like a local pizza place, but Papa John’s is all over the world!|
It was Papa John’s Pizza in Tomas Morato who graciously hold our get-together and mini celebration as When in Manila recently won the Best Photo Blog in the Globe Tattoo Awards!
|This makes a good centerpiece, yeah?|
We were treated with Pizza, Chicken and Pasta! I cannot remember the last time I was in Tomas Morato. Some years ago, Tomas Morato was the place to go to, to try the best restaurants and offerings in town. I am surprised to know that Tomas Morato has never lost its glamor and title. The stretch of Tomas Morato is still alive even on a Sunday afternoon. It houses family dining restaurants, and one of them is Papa John’s.
I love how spacious the venue is – two floors with an al fresco area on the second floor. There is even an enclosed area which can be used for parties, meetings and get-togethers.
I am seeing alot of good reviews from my blogger friends about Papa John’s Pizza, and I know it is not just about promotion. There is a reason why they are writing about the pizza place, and I have to write about the same things too. Papa John’s Pizza is good – regardless of the flavor – probably because their dough is prepared fresh, and never frozen. So when it is served hot with fresh, flavorful toppings – you can tell from the first bite – it is chewy! It stayed good even after a few hours (I brought a box to the theater when my friend and I watched Before Midnight).

A better pizza? Probably. Papa John’s is even less oily. I can seriously finish one pan of Papa John’s!
Aside from pizza, Papa John’s also offers Pasta. With the first look, you will think that the Meatballs Bolognaise (Php200) will taste like the usual sweet-style Pinoy spaghetti, BUT, it is savory, with a slight hint of sweetness and rich taste of tomatoes. The way I like it.
The Carbonara (Php180) is also good. Although I am not a fan of white sauce – it is creamy yet not “heavy” in the palate (it is hard to explain – but you know that feeling when you eat pasta in white sauce?).
We were also served with Chicken Drumettes and Wingettes (Php 229 for 6 pcs) served with BBQ sauce! What a feast! You can also be a little experimental and order other sauces – Pizza, Garlic Ranch or Honey Mustard (Php20 each).
Sorry if I am making you hungry at this hour, here’s the treat for all pizza lovers – Papa John’s has exciting promo to all pizza lover and for those who want to experience, the better pizza!
