Outfit Hunting for Costume Parties

July 31, 2014

When do you plan your wardrobe or outfit? For me, it is right after I have taken a shower, I look at my closet and check what I feel like wearing for a day. For some, dressing up for an occasion is often something that fashionistas look forward to. It doesn’t matter if it is just for a casual day out with friends or a formal event, finding the perfect outfit for the day is something that fashion divas take seriously. We can probably trace the origin of #OOTD’s from this behavior.

One event that can challenge their outfit hunting skills is a themed event or a costume party. They can take the easy route and go direct to MrCostumes or have a bit of fun by scouting around for their outfits.

The level of difficulty in finding the perfect attire for a costume party is relative to its theme. Costumes for period or decade themes like those of the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s are quite easy to find.
Thank you to our parents’ closet! Or, you may even check your closet for some pieces that can be mixed and matched to come up with a dated look. There are also fashion boutiques that sells really nice outfits that can take you back to the old ages. Classic themes like fairy tales, medieval, or westerns are not so difficult to find if you don’t mind wearing off the rack designs.

The trick is, simply go to the mall or a costume shop and take your pick from the display. Those who want to inject their personal style in their costumes may do so with the use of accessories. They also have the option to have their costumes made-to-order from dress shops.

People who need inspiration for costumes need to check out Cosplayers. Participants of Cosplay events take their outfits seriously and would often have them tailored according to their personal preferences.
There are even some who would design and make their own attire for the event.

Hunting for the perfect costume for a themed event may be difficult at times. But a fashionista never backs down on a clothing challenge. Be it off the rack or tailor made, the best way to wear a costume is with a lot of fun and confidence.

Now, what can you suggest for my event today? The theme is Glam Casual 🙂
