Avon Philippines: Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer

September 9, 2015
The best conversations and stories are shared over a meal. Avon Philippines, being a brand that understands women invited us over a lunch to unveil its 2015 Kiss Goodbye Breast Cancer campaign.
Le Jardin was all pink, hope and empowerment as guests shared a meal of salad, pasta and truffle chicken while listening to the stories shared by KGBC Ambassadors Jennylyn Mercado and Rocco Nacino.

According to the Department of Health and the Philippine Cancer Society, breast cancer is the most common cancer in the Philippines. Globally, one out of eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. This 2015, Avon intensifies its Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer with the theme “I Share the Fight Against Breast Cancer”.

Jennylyn Mercado who was recently welcomed by Avon Philippines as its newest brand ambassador read stories of women who fought against breast cancer. Rocco Nacino also shared a touching story of a woman who won the battle against breast cancer. In the middle of the story, he teared up as Jennylyn continued the story. It was probably tears of joy especially after he introduced his mom Linda Nacino (who herself survived the disease).

“Breast cancer advocacy is in Avon’s DNA. Our commitment to this cause is part of what defines who we are as a company. As our manifesto goes – Avon is the company that puts mascara on lashes and food on tables.. the company that fights wrinkles with one hand and breast cancer with the other” – Ms. Faith Fernandez-Mondejar, Avon Head for Asia Pacific Communications and Philippines PR.

Jennylyn is as enthusiastic about her participation in the campaign. She shared that as an Avon Fashions Intimate Apparel endorser she has taken on a deeper sense of purpose with the Pink Bra. The brassiere is specially released as a fund-raising product for the breast cancer cause.
Rocco on the other hand volunteers for the PGH Breast Care Center which he finds very humbling. I was surprised to find out Rocco is a registered nurse 🙂 His mom, undertook her own project “Piso Para sa Chemo” campaign n which she has already turned over Php40,000 worth of cash donation to breast cancer patients at the PGH Breast Care Center.
Honored in the event were Avon’s allies in the fight against breast cancer – Philippine Cancer Society, Philippine General Hospital, GMA Network, SM Mall of Asia, Ford Philippines and United Health Group.

Second, you can participate in the Walk and Run for a Cause on 10/10. It is happening at SM Mall of Asia grounds. This will commemorate 10 years of the Avon Walk in the Philippines.
To join the walk, simply purchase the 2015 Share the Fight Against Breast Cancer T-shirt from your Avon Lady. A portion of the shirt sold goes to maintenance of PGH Breast Care Center. Enlist at the Chris Sports outlets (SM City BF, Glorietta 3, SM MOA, SM City North EDSA and SM Megamall).
Third, buy the other Avon fundraising products
 – Avon Fashions Pink Ribbon Underwire Bra

– Skin So Soft Soft and White Collagen Protector Whitening Hand and Body Lotion
A few years ago, I found a lump in my left breast and thankfully, we were able to detect it earlier and it was extracted. No one is exempted from the BIG C. Girls, always do your regular self-examination. Let’s kiss goodbye the breast cancer.

Thank you Avon for having me and for trusting this blog to share the word about the fight against Breast Cancer!
