So many “once-in-a-lifetime” experiences, but one of the best ones I had is traveling to Guam. The beautiful Blue Continent of Guam gave me so much stories that I would never get tired of sharing.. My travel to Guam is the only travel series that I have proudly completed and documented in this blog.
I had the opportunity to connect and catch up with the Guam Visitors Bureau during the intimate Media event last night at Hole in the Wall.
So here I am again, writing about Guam (again). Curious what are the new things to do and explore in Guam? Read on.
What makes a perfect travel experience? Guam provides vacation thrills from making the most out of the locale’s tourism scene from special events, cultural sights, urban escapes, scenic vistas, and mouth-watering cuisine. Guam promised us a scenic view of the sunset while having BBQ and cold beer. Ah, the best sunset I have seen is in Guam!
#OnlyonGuam, travelers can experience all these and more. I have experienced them last year, and part of me still longs to come back simply because Guam has always something new to offer. This year, tourists can even take part in exhilarating marathons like the Ko’ko Road Race and indulge in the biggest celebration of the world’s best brands: Shop Guam Festival.
Ko’ Ko Road Race
The Ko’ko Road Race returns this October 2016 with activities for the entire family. On the 29th of October, children ages 4 to 12 can join the Guam Ko’ko Kids Fun Run with .6K, 1.6K, and 3.3K tracks. Slated to be held at Gov. Joseph Flores Memorial Park at Tumon, kids can experience a safe and exciting race of their own. Marathon enthusiasts will have their own race the following day at the Guam Ko’ko Half Marathon and Ekiden Relay. An event with thousands of participants from all over the world, it will span a total of 21.09 kilometers. Four-person teams can choose to take part of the Ekiden Relay, where each member only runs 5K portions of the full race. A special 10k Run/Walk course is available for those who want to take part in the event in a relaxed pace.
Shop Guam Festival
We went a little crazy shopping in Guam and outlet stores during our visit last year. We got big discounts (and we are not talking about 20 or 50% off!) – and that was not even the festival season! The Shop Guam Festival features discounts and great deals from the 1st of December 2016 to the 4th of February 2017 where the finest malls and boutiques in the island will feature the most sought-after products from gadgets to the latest clothing lines. Shopping in Guam promises great value, as tourists can buy all they want tax-free. The Shop Guam Festival App will also be available in both iOS and Android where the island’s best deals can be availed through mobile phone. I am excited for this!!!!
Guam is only 3.5 hours away from Manila via flights offered by Philippine Airlines, United Airlines and Cebu Pacific. Truly, it was much more affordable to travel to Guam now. The locals are very friendly and even Filipinos working in Guam are happy to see Filipinos visiting the island. Sometimes, they even treat you like a celebrity. It is amazing how I felt so much at home in Guam that I consider retiring in this sweet island where everyone knows everyone.
