Medical Insurance for Kids 0 to 17 Years Old

Let’s just say, Tita Talks are real here. Our lives our connected, and when my brother and his wife are not home, my parents and I played the role of the guardian and babysitter for my 1 year old nephew. Yesterday, I got an awesome opportunity to learn more about AIA Philam Life’s newest product through Tea Time with the Bolz with Nico Bolzico and Solenn Heussaff. A new medical insurance product is now made available covering kids from 0 to 17 years old.

Through the exclusive online event, AIA Philam Life Chief Executive Officer Kelvin Ang shared his personal stories that inspired him to push for products that protect the family.

Truth be told, when I was younger, I didn’t care much about medical coverage and health insurance, thinking I am young and healthy and would never need one. I actually didn’t get to use my medical coverage from my previous employer. But now that I am older, it is a priority – especially that I don’t want to give my family/parents worries in case of emergency.

A child’s medical needs can be costly, and with 54% of health expenses coming from the household budget 1 , this can be a burden to many. We have a little one (my nephew) who we take care of and I know how much money they set aside for his needs.

AIA Philam Life recently introduced AIA Med-Assist for children, its variable life insurance plan with medical benefit rider designed to address medical expenses due to hospitalization of 0-17-year olds. Tennyson Paras, AIA Philam Life Head of Products shares the reason behind the development of this product:

“We wanted a product that can give parents peace of mind in case of hospitalization. As a parent myself, I understand the additional burden that these unexpected medical expenses have on families. With AIA Med-Assist, they can simply focus on taking care of their children and recovery.”

AIA Med-Assist for children is based on the same product launched early this year, but this time with benefits available to 0-17-year olds which helps parents be one step ahead and protect their children and finances against health-related risks. It covers 90% of in-patient hospitalization and other medical expenses. Aside from hospitalization, the product also has a life insurance benefit and an investment fund that can help parents build their own medical fund in the future.
