Working with Colors Using the ASUS Vivobook 15 OLED (K513)

January 5, 2022

I mostly go for plains and blacks, as evident in my usual ensemble and work area at home; but the truth is, I always work with colors. Aside from my work as a content creator and Financial Advisor, I am also working as a Creative Director and Consultant for different clients.

The digital world is a truly wonderful venue for creativity, and technology helps me achieve my creative vision. I am open to changes and discovering new things. Although I have my go-to gadgets with me, I embrace continuous growth with devices powered by new technology.

ASUS recently launched its first Vivobook Laptop with OLED screen – the ASUS VivobooK
15 OLED (K513).

It is a beautiful laptop that has the right features for working or learning from home that can also be used for entertainment such as such binge-watching TV Series. The design is sleek, yet serious for Gen Zs and young professionals. I love that it is light and easy to carry around weighing only 1.8kg and is up to 18.6mm thin. For its dimension, I am impressed that it even carries Harman-Kardon-certified sound system that delivers high-fidelity audio every time. I do not need to use speakers to enjoy my favorite music playing while working.

I want to share with you my experience using it in my creative work:

True-To-Life Color (Pantone Validated and Cinema Grade Colors, 133% sRGB, 100% DCI-P3 Color Gamut).

I always see colors and design be it just through scrolling social media, or working and approving posters. Although I am not the best when it comes to memorizing all the color palettes, I can understand color contrast and compositions. ASUS Laptop shows colors in richer and more vivid details. This is perfect for those who work in the Creatives Team for color-intensive projects that enhance the quality of content. Oftentimes, the quality and color differ when clients or consumers use a different device. It is always good to use a laptop that produces true-to-life colors.

This is just to show true-to-life color on the screen

Clarity even with decreased brightness (60% Higher color volume compared to regular LCD laptops). I am guilty of adjusting my other laptop’s brightness setting to a higher scale, especially when editing videos. This is because I want to perfectly see the color and feel of the video I am working on. With the ASUS Vivobook 15 OLED, I can lower the brightness of my screen and still enjoy the vivid color of the clips. It means less blue light emission, while I work on my project without straining my eyes.

True Black / Deeper Blacks for Extreme Details (1M: 1 extreme contrast ratio). The ASUS Vivobook 15 OLED laptop can turn on/off each pixel of the screen to achieve true black, instead of the dark gray you usually see in LCDs due to the backlight, giving a more immersive viewing and working experience.

Blur-Free Animation and Video Experience. One of the challenges of not having a 20/20 vision is the blurs that we encounter when we are not wearing our eyeglasses. It is even more frustrating if you use a gadget that blurs visuals, interfering with our gaming or viewing experience. The ASUS OLED Laptop ensures smoother fast-paced action scenes with its ultrafast 0.2 ms response time which is 50x faster compared to LCD laptops. It gives low latency gameplay, and subtle details like blur-free text scrolling. These little details can make a big difference in the overall experience.

Although I don’t usually play games online, I do consume a lot of videos online like streaming BTS concerts or watching movies.

Eye Care Display – No Eye-Strain (70% Blue light Reduction). I am all aware of the importance of taking care of our eyes, but deadlines and client meetings can sometimes extend (even after office hours). And in this digital age, when we breathe digital for work and entertainment, we spend more time staring at our screens. The ASUS Vivobook 15 OLED laptop understands this lifestyle and thus, the new OLED emits 70% less harmful blue light to ensure your eyes are safe even when laptops are used for long hours. It’s also TUV Rheinland Certified, and SGS Performance tested. This is an impressive feature, that should be coupled with proper eye care.

OLED Burn-in Prevention. If you experience or see laptops that have blurred or dark edges on the screen, it is probably because of the burn screen issues. With extended use, certain pixels may age resulting to degraded colors (burn-in). ASUS is already one step ahead with the ASUS OLED Care feature for those concerned with OLED burn-in issues. This is an excellent feature that ensures we can enjoy our devices for work or play.

Just simply activate the ASUS OLED Care screensaver on your laptop thru MyASUS App. The ASUS Vivobook 15 OLED also has interesting screensavers that you can play to remind you to take a break from work.

I really enjoy working with colors and staying creative with the new ASUS OLED Laptop. For someone like me who go for minimalist design, I feel a better appreciation for colors and the work that I do through the stunning OLED Screen of the ASUS Laptop.

It comes with a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C, two USB 2.0, an HDMI, an Audio Jack Combo, and a Micro SD Card reader perfect for multi-hyphen individuals who have different job titles under their name. As for me, it makes it easier to transfer photos from my camera’s SD card, while reviewing other projects on an external storage simultaneously.

Its 15.6 inches three-sided NanoEdge OLED display allows users to experience visuals like never before, with true-to-life colors, 178 degrees wide viewing angle, and an overall 85% screen-to-body ratio. It offers stunning visuals that don’t strain the eyes even when working long hours.

One of the key features I personally love is the fingerprint scanner that makes access to the laptop easier yet secure.

The Vivobook 15 OLED comes pre-installed with genuine Windows and Office Home & Student 2019 and a Nereus backpack. It features Windows 10 out of the box and is also upgradeable to Windows 11 for free upon availability. Click here for more information about Windows 11
