3 Harry Potter Locations to Visit in Japan

August 1, 2025

Whether you are planning to visit these 3 Harry Potter Destinations in Japan via floo powder, broomstick, or by driving Ron’s car, make sure that you bring the magic and child in you.

I remember the first time I visited the Harry Potter Studio in Leavesden in London, I was so giddy and excited to see the scenes, props and they are just how I imagined them when I was reading the Harry Potter books some xx years ago. It took me 3 separate trips to Japan to complete and check these Potterhead bucketlists.

1.The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Universal Studios Japan (Osaka)

It was a magical moment when we visited the USJ and our first stop was the The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Imagine walking through Hogsmeade, enjoying a Butterbeer, and choosing a wand at Ollivanders. To complete the experience, we had lunch at the Three Broomsticks – the food is okay, but we just thought it is all for the whole experience.

    Book your ticket here.

📍 Location: Universal Studios Japan, Osaka
🎢 Must-do: Ride the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride. It is a 4D motion-based dark ride set inside Hogwarts Castle.

    2. Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo – The Making of Harry Potter (Tokyo)

This Harry Potter Studio is the largest Harry Potter studio tour in the world! I previously visited the Harry Potter Studio in London, but I can say that this one is a lot better compared to the one in Leavesden.

I would suggest that you go early to have time to look at the shop – and buy yourself a scarf. You can explore the Great Hall, Forbidden Forest, and Diagon Alley. Make sure that you ride a broomstick, and enjoy Butterbeer and Muggle food at the café. You will need a minimum of 4 hours to explore all the magic in the studio.

    📍 Location: Nerima, Tokyo
🎟️ Tip: Tickets must be booked online in advance—no same-day tickets available on-site. Use my discount code: KLOOKRUTH when booking via Klook to get 5% discount!

    3. Wizarding World Street – Giant Time Turner in Akasaka

When you ride the Chiyoda Line and get off Akasaka Station, you will be surprised to find the grand staircase decorated with the Giant Time Turner – it is the gateway to the Wizarding World Street where you can find the Harry Potter Cafe, the Akasaka ACT Theatre, where “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” is staged, and the Harry Potter Mahou Dokoro shop—an official wizarding store selling Japan‑exclusive souvenirs including wands, robes, chocolate frogs, and themed tote bags.

📍 Location: Akasaka Station (C‑06 on the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line)
🖋️Travel Tip: You can get the Akasaka Stamp at the Harry Potter Shop!
