I thought of visiting Singapore again for the very reason that we were not able to go to Sentosa the first time we went there last year. The Universal Studios has also opened which was on construction back then when we went to the site.
Aside from the fun times when we explored the places, culture and food in Singapore, one of the best times that I always want to think of was our stay with Golden Landmark Hotel.
It may not be considered as a Deluxe Hotel, but I was not disappointed when we checked in to the hotel. I booked the reservation online through Agoda.com and noted specific requests: top floor, non-smoking room, king size bed, nice view.
When we arrived at the hotel, it is only pass 12:00 in the afternoon, so we just decided to leave our baggages at the concierge and explore the area. Golden Landmark Hotel is located at the third floor of a shopping complex in Victoria Street and Arab Street. It is the best location when in comes to shopping because it is near the shopping malls like Bugis Market, and a flea market callled Bugis Junction. The best part is that Bugis Station (MRT) is just a 5-minute walk which makes other destinations and tourist spots more accessible. There is even a Muslim Mosque on the Arab Street which is just a perfect site for photoshoots.
When we got to our room, I was not disappointed. Everything that I have requested was provided to us. Top floor with the nice view of Singapore Flyer.
The room smells like citronella with fresh beddings and towels.
The comfort room is complete with toiletries (shampoo, lotion, soap, toothbrush, etc) and are replenished everyday. Towels and tissue paper are fully-stocked. I have to say that yet again, there is no bidet, so we have to buy “tabo” from the nearby Japanese Store in Bugis Junction.
There is a hair dryer, minibar, safety deposit box and even pressing board and iron. Complimentary bottled water are provided everyday (we know how expensive bottled water is when traveling to other countries, and this is a big plus!).
The best part is that the package that I have booked came with free breakfast buffet. Breakfast is served at the restaurant which is at the third floor lobby (across the front desk reception) from 6AM to 10AM. They serve the usual Continental Breakfast.
There is a salad bar, muffins, croissants, bacon, egg, noodles, congee, cereals, rice, fruit bar and lots of breads (which you can personally toast!). There is even a chef which cooks eggs and omelets by request.
I cannot complain about the amenities. There is a gym and swimming pool at the 5th floor (was it 5th floor? I cannot remember) and on the same floor there is a bar and cafe.
At US$371.14 for 4 nights, I cannot complain. I think I got my money’s worth. Too bad, I was not able to use the pool because Singapore is so beautiful that you have to go out and explore the city than stay in the hotel.
