A sports store is probably the store I least visited whenever I am in
the mall. But I think I would need to go visit more sports stores if I
wanted to really be serious about being fit and healthy.
Toby’s Sports Store is
one of the popular stores in our country and it is surprising to know
that Toby’s has been in the industry for 35 years! Amazing right? What
is more amazing to know, the store started as a toy store in Greenhills.
The most amazing thing for me is actually meeting the guy who is the

I
love the campaign as it is true to not just about being active on
sports. It can be used to any aspect of your life – if you want change,
you should start change.
To make more people relate to the campaign, Toby’s tapped country’s top athletes who best epitomizes the It Starts Here campaign.
PBA all-star James Yap, volleyball champion Michele Gumabao, and Azkals star goalkeeper Neil Etheridge. The
three athletes each exhibit what it is like to have a burning passion
for sports, be motivated to reach greatness, and prove that excellence
can be fulfilled.
I am not the most sporty
person in the world – the only sports I know is chess. If you call that a
sports, physical sport. But I can relate to Michele and James’ stories
about perseverance and discipline.
Michele
shared that she was once a bench player – but she stayed patient and
focused – showing her dedication until she receives his coach’s trust
and she became good at what she does passionately.
As
for James, we are all witnesses at how James rise as one of the best
PBA Players in the country today. He is ten-time PBA All-star and
two-time Most Valuable Player. It is true discipline, hard-work and
passion that make him who he is today. It is not all about the celebrity
status and popularity – I think that even adds to the pressure of
proving yourself and your worth (?).
Azkals star goalkeeper Neil Etheridge was not in the event but sports history tells us how Neil shines as a hero during crucial games.
Good job for Toby’s Sports for
supporting our athletes and bringing quality gears for the sports
lovers. Since I want to change lifestyles and be more fit – I may start
frequenting the store and that may probably give me reason to shop some
more.
