TGIFridays Glorietta After 20 Years: New Look, New Food & a Selfie Promo

May 16, 2014

It was nice to finally back at the new TGIFridays in Glorietta 3 after so many years! Did you know that it has been 20 years since this flagship TGIFridays store was opened?

I remember hanging out at this bar (and the one in El Pueblo – yikes, I feel so old!). The place holds so many great memories and dreams (I once dreamt of being a bartender in TGIFridays after College – and throw bottles and mix cocktails while wearing a crazy hat! – then probably sing “happy birthday” and serve a slice of cake to diners celebrating their birthday!). TGIFridays always spells fun and good food!

When new bars and restaurant started opening in places like Eastwood, the Fort and Metrowalk, I kind of forgot about the TGIFridays in Glorietta. BUT that doesn’t mean totally forgetting TGIFridays, It is hard to explain how dining at TGIFridays makes one relaxes and recharges – despite the crazy Friday vibe the stores resonate.  It is good that they have 15 branches (with newest store in SM Fairview opening soon),  and continuously provides good food and great times.

So, I was ecstatic when I visited the TGIFridays store in Glorietta last Tuesday! It is now bigger, brighter, and has a modern look with contemporary images that showcase the brand – BUT still has the Fridays vibe even if it was a Tuesday!

TGIFridays’ Fresh Hip Look

The iconic red and white awnings remain but a simpler logo shows honest to goodness food and memorable dining experience.

A hip rendition of the New York skyline painted on baseball bats signifies the America’s national sports – Baseball. The first ever TGIFridays opened its door in New York City, at the 1st Avenue and 63rd Street in 1965.

The 360-seater store has clean lines bledning with unique flooring. There are separated areas for group and functions. Cooper Spun (large red droplights) meld with red decorative pendant lights that is perfect with  brown wooden spindles and balusters which is stylish and trendy.

Love the C-shaped couches and elevated wooden tables with bar stools that can seat up to six pax.
My favorite part of the store. The newly redesigned TGIFridays bar where cocktails and beverages are prepared by very skilled bartenders! The bigger bar gives more legroom for them to put on a show and do bottle-flaring! The liquors and bottles are stocked side by side with large TV screens.
And of course, there is a smoking area which is also cozy and stylish.
The hallway to the washroom reminds me of Takeshi’s Castle game! Haha. #Anagon and I thought this leads to the other side of the mall! (ala The Link!). But I love the framed pictures which show the history of TGIFridays.

What’s New in TGIFridays’ Menu?

TGIFridays still carries our favorite dishes with generous servings – from burgers, ribs, steaks, pastas, fajitas and desserts! Adding new flavors in the menu, TGIFridays let us taste the all new dishes for their lunch promo which is available from Monday to Friday between 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM starting May 12th.

That’s Grilled Chop in Shitake Cream Sauce
It is dry rubbed and fire-grilled pork served with rice pilaf and summer coleslaw. The cream sauce is really good!

Jalapeno Mushroom and Stuffed Chicken
This is deep fried chicken stuffed with sauteed mushrooms, jalapeno, and mozarella cheese.
Served with rice pilaf and summer coleslaw.
May 19th is another day to mark your calendar, especially for burger fanatics. TGIFridays will launch the Stacker Burger (One Great Burger, Stacked with Flavor) meals.
Cheesy Bacon Cheese Burger
Nom..nom..nom.. I love the crispy bacon and cheese!
Texas Chili Cheese Burger
I love the chili-bite of this burger! Super filling!

To end the meal, here’s a serving of Mudslide!
