Look who did a little grocery shopping at the new supermarket in UP Ayala Town Center. Merkado Supermarket welcomes me with over 20,000 merchandises in a 3,900 sqm floor area. I walked in with a camera and shopping cart and left with 4 bags of goodies!

Here’s the first look and the great deals inside Merkado Supermarket. 

Merkado Supermarket is a joint venture of ALI Capital Corp (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ayala Land) and Entenso Equities, Inc (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Puregold Priceclub, Inc). AyaGold is giving grocery shopping a new meaning with Merkado Supermarket. 

 

 

 

 

There’s a bakery station for warm breads and cakes and a rotisserie area is perfect for grilled specials that families can take away for outings or potluck parties. I love that there are more options for healthier snacks and food inside Merkado Supermarket – there’s an extensive fresh produce, salad bar, cut fruits, and juicing station. 

For those who love to experiment with cooking, you can buy your Asian herbs and spices in Merkado Supermarket.  Interestingly, there’s even a store for potted herbs and special floral arrangements from the store’s resident florist. 

My thoughts on Merkado Supermarket

• I love the clean layout.
• Easy to move around and stocks are not piled up in racks (which makes me really paranoid about super stores!).
• Variety of imported items available in the Merkado Supermarket which are not available in the nearest supermarket. 
• I notice that some items are priced higher BUT, it is a perfect place to go to to shop for imported items (no need to go to supermarkets that require membership).
• I wish they have an Organic Station.
• Imported products are mixed with local products in aisles so better go around and familiarize yourself with the stations and selections.

I spotted some items at Buy One, Take One promo. There’s also FREE item for every Php1,000 worth purchase. Be on the look-out for some good deals too. I spotted a pack of Bounty Fresh chicken for only Php300+ (2 whole chicken + breast pack). And these trays of eggs might be gone soon!

As for me, I loaded my cart with fruits, cooking essentials, Parmesan Cheese and packed mushrooms.  Thinking of bringing my mom on my next trip. I was so excited when I saw the pack of Frozen Strawberries for only Php 160!
