If there is one thing that you must do in Japan, it is to take a Factory Tour!
During our trip to Fukuoka, we took the Asahi Beer Factory Tour. Asahi has different factories across Japan that offer FREE Beer Factory Tour, and we had a little adventure at Asahi Brewery in Fukuoka.
The best part of the tour is it is Free, and yes, it involves Free Beer-tasting!
Disclaimer: I am not a (beer) drinker, but I appreciate this type of activity during travels. A different activity compared to the usual museum or theme parks in Japan. It is a very immersive and enriching experience, especially for those who love beer or are just curious about the industry.

The guided tour begins with an introduction to the Asahi Beer history and its legacy. The hallway of the factory displays details and mementos about the company’s founding, its growth, and its contributions to the beer industry.
Next, we got to learn more about the brewing process. We got to see through the various stages of beer production, starting from the raw ingredients (such as hops and barley) and moving through the brewing, fermentation, and packaging processes.
Through the glass panel, we got to observe the intricate mechanisms and technology used in brewing and packaging the beer.
It is also nice to know that Asahi uses recycled materials for their staff uniform.
At the end of the tour is the Tasting Session. We were escorted to the Beer Hall and were given 3 tokens to sample freshly brewed Asahi beers – Asahi Super Dry, Asahi Super Dry Extra Cold, and Asahi Black.
There were also snacks and nuts that you could eat to pair with your beer. I remember just giving away my last token to my friends.
