Jollibee #ToyScout for a Day

November 22, 2014
Today, I am a kid! I spent my day surrounded with toys (in the morning) and circus attractions (at night). I wish events were like this everyday!

Earlier today, Jollibee welcome me and blogger friends to its warehouse in Mandaluyong for a “clean-up activity” for the toys that Jollibee has collected for the Maaga ang Pasko program. Truly, one not need to wait for the season of gift-giving before doing something beneficial for the community and society.  Our favorite (and very own) fastfood chain, Jollibee, started the Holiday Season early through the Maaga ang Pasko by collecting toys and books which they would donate and give to kids. I cannot believe it has been 20 years since they started this program. It seems like only yesterday when I first saw its commercial on TV.

Breeze joined forces Jollibee with this mission by partnering as the official detergent and co-presenting the clean-up phase of the campaign.

But before the cleaning phase, Jollibee also needs to first sort out the boxes and boxes of toys that they received from different donation points.

That’s when the toyscouts come in – we helped volunteers from Jollibee and Breeze sort and clean toys. We were even joined by Celebrity moms Bettina Carlos, Christine Bersola and Regine Tolentino.

Breeze has donated a complete array of cleaning materials and committed to help Jollibee collect more books and toys by placing Maaga ang Pasko boxes in Unilever offices, encouraging employees (and their kids) to donate and share.

It is my first time to volunteer for this activity (I was not actually sure of the activity when I RSVPd, so it was a pleasant surprise when I found out we would help in the program!). It is nice to see gazillion of toys! I know each of the toy’s owner has a deep attachment to their cars, dolls and playsets – and each piece (broken or not) has a story to tell. Surprisingly, there were even new ones that I saw in the batch. You would be touched with people’s generosity.

I enjoyed sorting the toys, and  I wanted to finish the box but we only had a limited time. I would have wanted to stay. I might soon be back with friends before the toy distribution happening on December 1st.

I found a cute golden treasure then Jollibee grabbed this Minion from me!

“As Maaga and Pasko celebrates its 20th year, Jollibee wants to further strengthen its commitment to make Christmas even brighter for more kids and rally more families, led by hard-working moms to make this happen. We’re happy to partner with a brand whose values are the same with ours” – Jollibee Vice President for Marketing Harvey Ong.

Unilever Vice President for Food and Home Care Benjie Yap said that they are privileged to help out in this year’s Maaga ang Pasko by making sure that the toys are clean and smell fresh before they are given to their new owners.

Thank you so much Jollibee and Breeze for making me a Jollibee #ToyScout for a day! 🙂
