It is indeed a happy day today (should I say, yesterday.. because I am typing it at 12:13 am). Imagine this, taking your shoes off and wearing your choice of socks (and I mean, Happy Socks!) and lounging around a sweet cafe.
Happy Socks does know happiness and its true meaning. It can be as simple as taking your shoes off (like, after a day’s work), simply hanging out with your friends, enjoying a cup of coffee, or just plain wearing funky socks.

I cannot seem to remember how the happy socks craze started -but I remember getting my feed flooded with Happy Socks pictures. Happy Socks indeed broke the style rules of matching your shoes with your socks. Here’s a little history, Happy Socks was founded by friends Viktor Tell and Mikael Soderlindh in Sweden in 2008. The first store was opened n Stockholm, Sweden.
In just 7 years, Happy Socks is now available in over 6,000 fashion boutiques in more than 70 countries in all continents. Amazing! I cannot imagine how many designs they have. I want to start a collection!
So imagine us picking carefully that one sock to wear during the event! It was a hard decision! It took me a little while to decide and then finally – I took my shoes off, and wore my Happy Socks! The Staple and Perk Bakery is a memorable place for me. I remember this place exactly. I was standing right where the registration table was set sometime in October (it is starting to sound like a proposal! Haha). It is a happy place for me because I remember unwrapping my visa package and jumping in front of the cafe (while my friend recorded my reaction). The Staple and Perk Bakery is located in the same building as VFS where I applied my UK Visa.
The cafe was like a big playground! Yay! Love the wall displays and socks all over and everyone was indeed wearing Happy Socks – even the cafe servers!
I want to bring home every Happy Socks I saw in the venue! Happy Socks creates two collections every year. The Fall/Winter Collection is released on the first day of August, while the Spring/Summer Collection is available on February 1st.
Happy Socks also did collaborations with brands like Rolex, Keds, Adidas – Matchplay x Victor Tell, Wong Wong, Paris Saint Germain by Happy Socks. I am not sure though if Happy Socks has collaboration with local artist, but who knows? Maybe it is in the works. And rap your way to happiness, because latest collaboration is with rapper, actor and artist, Snoop Dogg!
Jonathan Larsson from Happy Socks Sweden joined us to spread more happiness and happy news!
Our favorite #SamYG also joined the afternoon fun. He was the first one to pick a box from the #100HappyActs stand and it says – we need to spread the love by giving out Happy Socks to two people we love and to do random act of kindness. Can you guess who are the lucky two who would receive Happy Socks from me? Keep following me @ruthilicious in IG to find out!
It was a happy event indeed. There’s so much goodness a simple pair of socks can do to one person. Look at him! I want to do the same (if only I were not wearing skirt ;))
Watch out because Happy Socks athletic socks and underwear will be available in the Philippines on the second half of the year.

Side story: While doing this entry, the #NognogintheCity shared that Mary Jane Veloso was spared from the execution in Indonesia. This is after her recruiter gave herself up to the local police. It is indeed a happy day!
