Pink Sugar Cosmetics: Sweet New Makeup Brand

October 17, 2015
pink sugar cosmetics launch

It was not an exaggeration when I tell you that it was like visiting a candy store when I walked inside the Rocketroom restaurant in BGC for the official launch of Pink Sugar Cosmetics.

Literally, there were candies on display, high pigmented makeup and beautiful people testing and swatching colors and hues of Pink Sugar Cosmetics’s collection. I seldom attend “beauty” events (for the benefit of my global audience – it means, event catered to bloggers who write about beauty products – a term used in Philippine blogging community), but if all beauty events are like this fun and engaging you would find me in every beauty events in town.

Pink Sugar perfectly fits the word “sweet” because the cosmetics collection is just fun, colorful and (literally) sweet-smelling. I would like to think this is only for the girls, but hey women can be sweet and youthful too.

Look at our host, Janina modeling the HD lipstick!

Pink Sugar is a home-grown brand created by entrepreneurial brothers, Indian-Filipino Laveen Mirpuri and Rohit Mirpuri. I know it was quite a shocker to know that this bright and cheerful brand of cosmetics was started by men.

Well, the story started when friends in the Philippines would ask them to buy makeup from abroad. They believe that best beauty brands can be created locally. With impressive background, Laveen who after 4 years of working and observing female consumerism and beauty habits in Brazil and Rohit, a business graduate who co-founded the brand after successful venture in creating beauty mists, I wouldn’t be surprised that this new brand would be a big hit to Filipino market. Now I remember, Pink Sugar Mist that I got from BDJ Box last year. I actually love the scent of Bloom!
I took my time gazing and playing with the swatches and even asked help from Mikki Galang to choose the perfect shades for my bases. There’s  Awesome BB Cream with SPF25  Php 499 that comes in different shades.  The Dual Finish Face Powder Php 499 that I tried which feels silky (not grainy!).  Then of course, the Our Lil Secret Concealer Php 299. It comes in different shades of light to medium tomes. I am excited to try everything. I love that Digify (the PR agency who handled the launch) gave us the time to test and check the perfect bases for our skin so they could include that in our loot. I love how personalized everything is!

I hear the certified beauty bloggers’ impressive remarks about the pigment and variety of colors of Pink Sugar Cosmetics. I was personally impressed with how long-wearing the lipsticks are! The lipsticks are satin-smooth when you applied. It is highly-pigmented that even after enjoying a meal, it sticks in your lips – staying vibrant and non-drying. I was supposed to make a swatch of kiss marks using different shades. But I failed – because when I tried to kiss the back of my hand, the Pink Sugar lipstick color just stuck on my lips 😉 They smell so yummy too!

The packagings are so delightfully impressive too! If I were not in the launch yesterday and I find myself looking at these products in the counter, I would think Pink Sugar is an imported brand! I even asked #nognoginthecity what he thought of the makeup and the packaging (it was like asking guy’s opinion on woman’s makeup loot! Haha). He thought the packagings are fun and nice, even the names of the makeup.

Interestingly, Pink Sugar also added a touch of fun and play naming their products and shades. There’s an eyeshadow palette called Wordplay, a blush powder called Sweet Cheeks, and a lipstick is named Selfie!

Each Pink Sugar product is cruelty-free and Paraben-free which contains only products that are good for the skin and environment. Lipsticks have ingredients like Vitamin E and Shea Butter, while the concealer even uses cucumber and chamomile extracts. Cheek tints use Coconut Oil, Vitamins A, C, E and Aloe Vera.

It was like a sorority party to see these beauty bloggers. Add interesting details and delicious food from Stella Wood Fire, I thank God once again for making me a girl.
