Where to Stay in Puerto Princesa: Hue Hotel, Palawan
Palawan Hotel near Airport
Puerto Princesa is always synonymous to nature and the most popular tourist destination, the underground river. The city, however, is popular as a stop point to bigger destinations that would welcome tourists to pristine white beaches and colorful marine life.
During my recent trip to Palawan, I was expecting to stay in a hostel and backpacker’s inn before we head off to San Vicente islands. We found our nest in Hue Hotel and Resort in Puerto Princesa. It is only a 15-minute drive from the airport. This is one of the few good hotels in Puerto Princesa with pool.
Hue Hotel is hip, young, yet luxe in its own right. The open lobby is welcoming with its contemporary design and bright colors. There is so much color, texture and art in the lobby; but everything looks neat and in order.
There are Balinsasayaw Birds carved in the front desk, colorful couches with diveders and little fun details that would capture your camera lenses.
Hue Hotel Room
We got our room at the 5th floor which is just walking distance to the pool area. We were so lucky. I shared room with @karlaaroundtheworld and we got a spacious bedroom with 2 queen-sized beds.
I love that the toilet and shower area are separated. But to spell easy and comfort, guests can watch TV from the shower area.
There’s TV with cable, wifi access, hot & cold shower, flat iron, safety box, complimentary water, generic toiletries, and fresh towels in the room.
Food at Matiz
Guests only need to go down at the first level of the Hue Hotel to enjoy good food at Matiz. This is also where the breakfast buffet is served. At night, the place is transformed into a bar restaurants where guests can jam and enjoy good music.
Breakfast Buffet is plenty and just right for the guests who are scheduled to go on a tour. There’s rice, tapa, fish, tocino, scrambled eggs, cereals, and the usual breakfast staples of coffee, bread and fruits.
Matiz also serves the “best paella in town” – so you guys should not miss a Spanish themed dinner.
The staff is really attentive at cleaning up table and refiling drinks. It is quite impressive for a hotel with a busy breakfast setting as early as 5:00 AM (since most of the guests are scheduled for a tour).
The Pool
The roof deck pool area is one of my favorites in Hue Hotel. The pool has a bar with wide selection of drinks for guests to enjoy. The pool lounges even light up at night. It is a nice place to chill while enjoying the view of the city.
Hue Hotel also offers massage services – which they also offer inside the room.
The hotel is just right next to Robinson’s Mall which is convenient for guests who might want to do a little shopping or grocery before a trip. I got some friends who bought new memory cards during the trip because they unfortunately left them in Manila.
Hue Hotel rates starts from ₱3,776 to ₱7,346 (around $88/night) depending on the season and room availability.
Hue Hotel offers a comfortable, safe and reasonable lodging in Puerto Princesa with beautiful aesthetic and delicious food. You have every reason to enjoy Hue.
