It was a rainy Sunday yesterday, and the best way to spend Mother’s Day is to listen to M.Y.M.P.’s acoustic songs with the soothing sweet voice of their new vocalist, Juliet Bahala.Â
The band M.Y.M.P (Make Your Mama Proud) released it’s album MYMP The Unreleased Acoustic Collection, yesterday (May 8th) at the Midtown Atrium of Robinson’s Place Ermita.Â
We always hear song remakes and covers from concerts, bar gigs, even in Youtube and videokes, that shows how Filipinos love re-living the songs of the past and the memories they bring us. The album is just perfect to bring us back to the song hits in different genre and era.
The MYMP Unreleased Acoustic Collection album is an inspiration from the most requested songs they get from their gigs. As Chin puts it – the songs from live gigs are well appreciated by fans evident by the song downloads and Youtube hits, so this inspired them to come up with an album that showcases the most requested songs in Acoustic with a more controlled music production.Â

Ibey Habber on Bass (he reminds me of Japs Sergio of Rivermaya!) |
Hannche Bobis on Keyboards |
The voice of the new vocalist, Juliet Bahala is just perfect song selections in the album. She was introduced on January 24, 2010 in ASAP. An 18-year old regional singing champ from Davao (where Juris also came from!) reminds me of Nina and Angel Locsin! She’s pretty, nice and has a sweet whole voice.Â
Being a new vocalist, we cannot deny that critics and fans would soon compare the new MYMP’s gem to Juris. Juliet keeps a positive attitude and shared that she is more focused on what she is doing now. What I can say is, we cannot compare two brilliant artists – we can safely say, Juliet is as good as Juris.Â
For a sec I thought she was Nina and/or Angel? |
The best way to spend Mothers’ Day! |
The band serenaded the mall crowds and audience with songs from their newest album and some cover songs including Bruno Mars’ Just the Way Your Are and Taylor Swift’s You Belong with Me. I even saw one momma dancing and waving her hands while watching the show!
The album MYMP The Unreleased Acoustic Collection is now available in record stores nationwide released by Galaxy Records and distributed by Polyeast Records for only Php299. Mallrats got the chance to have their album signed yesterday during the event.Â
Album at Php299 sold in  the event with free poster and autograph! |
If you missed the event yesterday (esp. those on provinces), catch MYMP at the following venues:
May 13 – Robinson’s Sta Rosa, Laguna
May 14 – Robinsons Summit Ridge, Tagaytay
May 15 – Robinson’s Lipa, Batangas
May 28 – Robinson’s Starmills, Pampanga
May 29 – Robinson’s Dasmarinas, Cavite
It was a fun afternoon, and my mom, (and dad and brother too) were too happy to see the band. They said they are good and they sing such nice songs – now that’s another reason for the band to share and make their moms’ prouder!
