Food Trip: Restaurants in Robinsons Place Antipolo
Robinsons Malls invited bloggers to a fun food trip in Robinsons Place Antipolo.

As we were riding a private van en route to Robinsons Place Antipolo, our favorite #KumareClub Bloggers, Levy and Badet were teasing me about that afternoon’s hashtag – #RuthGoestoAntipolo.

Indeed, I traveled from Manila to Antipolo to check out the Robinsons Place Antipolo and taste the different food offerings from its strip of restaurants. From the local favorites, to international flavors (and brews) and uniquely Antipolo, I think I have covered all the flavors that is uniquely (Robinsons) Antipolo.
Robinsons Antipolo is just a short drive from Robinson’s Galleria – a good hour drive (or less without traffic). En route, I shared with Levy and Badet my fun adventures during #RuthGoestoBarcelona.
When we arrived, I was pleasantly surprised with the facade of Robinsons Antipolo. I saw greens, trees and spacious walkway to the mall’s entrance. Swaying away from the usual blocks of building, I love this look of Robinsons.

There’s an ample parking space (probably a consideration for those who would be coming from another city). But the mall is pretty accessible for people who live in the area because I saw some public transportation and jeepney passing by the main road of Robinsons Place Antipolo.

We were welcomed to the Admin Office by the familiar faces of Robinsons team. Then off we started with the tour. I love the spacious wakways outside and the high-ceiling inside. It is very rare feeling for me to feel relaxed inside the mall because (1) I hate crowded places (2) I hate rushing people in the mall – but I am usually one of them (3) I hate crowded places like mall.

Truly, Robinsons Place Antipolo has adapted what it means like to be in Antipolo – a place for relaxation.  I wish we have a mall like this near my place. Interestingly, Robinsons Place Antipolo would even host exhibits and events that weekend.

They were teasing me and my cape dress. I told them I was told to wear something comfortable and it was comfortable for me. Funny enough, we saw the same style of dress worn by a mannequin in one of the stores 🙂

We checked out the partner restaurants for the quick meet-and-greet, then we started with our own food journey. I love the selection of restaurants that offer different cuisines and home-grown specialties.

For the Bloggers Food Tour, I decided to pick only 3 restaurants (I heard the others chose 5!). I know myself better that I wouldn’t be able to handle much food.  My first stop:

Shrimp Shack

Shrimp Shack is perfectly located at the ground level of Robinsons Place Antipolo with al fresco dining. When I got inside, I felt the beach vibe! I love the laid back atmosphere of the restaurant.

What’s on the table? Well, you got it – Shrimps! Lots of ’em! From the usual rice meal, to pasta and salad.

For starters, there’s Hawaiian Chicken Salad with Water Chestnuts (Php 140). This is not just all greens and colors for you but there’s a bite of spice.

The Shrimp Scampi Spaghetti Php 230 pasta tastes amazing too (surprisingly, I love it even if it is not red sauce). Shrimp Scampi is Italian-slash-American way of cooking the shrimp with garlic butter and lemon or wine. For those who want their rice (like me!), you can order this via Garlic Shrimp Scampi Php 185 for 5 pcs/Php 245 for 7 pcs
If you find the serving a little too big for you, you can share a plate of Surf and Turf Php 320 with a friend. It comes with Garlic Shrimp Scampi or Chili Shrimp with Angus Beef BBQ served with macaroni salad and two scoops of rice. Spell D-A-T-E! 🙂

Second stop:

Costa Coffee

I headed to Costa Coffee after my late lunch and we were fortunate to catch Costa Coffee’s General Manager who introduced us to the coffee shop’s new offerings for Lenten Season.

The store carries the same feel of the original Costa Coffee from London. There’s a dominance of red and blue color and one would not miss the red photobooth.

It was a feast of color and flavor that is uniquely Costa Coffee.

We got to try the Tuna Mediterranean Salad Php 170 and Pesto Pasta Salad with Grilled Chicken Php 165 which are perfect for those who want indulgent, balanced and heatlhy meals.

I would highly recommend the Beef Pastrami with Gerkins on Flat Bread Php 178 which uses sliced cucumber instead of the usual sauerkraut which gives it a more balanced flavor and the Grilled Chicken on Prosciotto Ham on Flat Bread Php 180.

Salmon Cream Cheese on Soft Roll Php 160 is another winning offering for me because (1) I love Cream Cheese (2) although I am not a salmon person, the combination of flavor makes it worthy of my approval.

To cap off the meal, there are bitter-sweet offerings such as Costa Coffee’s Peanut Butter Brownie Swirl Php 90 and Smores Php 90. I looove the Smores because it is close to the taste and flavor of Vanilla Fudge Cake that I have been craving for for years (!!!!). I feel the need to go back to the nearest Costa Coffee shop!

For drinks, I tried the signature White Flat Coffee. A light flavorful coffee which actually has 3 shots of espresso. I love it smooth and medium-bodied.

For dinner, we were welcomed by Sir Romeo of Romeo’s Spice and Steak. It was nice to end our sweet tour with a Filipino themed restaurant. True to what we are known for – hospitable and foodies – Sir Romeo welcomed us to a festive spread of Filipino specialties.

I’ll just gonna let my camera do the talking.

The spread consisted of Filipino favorites like grilled fish and fried meats including the All-time Favorite Crispy Pata  Php 549 and Hot Spicy Grilled Ginger Chicken Php 275 . The Crispy Pata remained gloriously crispy even after dinner (!!!).  There was a bowl of colorful Mixed Veggies with Quai Eggs Php 175 and Pinakbet Bagoong Isda Php 175 for those who love their veggies (I do!). For those who love a flavorful American ribs, check out the Pinoy twist on Romeo’s Spicy Grilled Pork Ribs Php 270.

The presence of the bilao made it look an authentic feast – Family Inihaw Fiesta Bilao.  It is served as a perfect center piece in the lovely table set-up that evening.

I love that Romeo’s has something new from the usual Filipino menu. Take this  Jalapeno Tender Loin Steak Php 499, Mondongo Cagayano  Php 299 (which is like Callos) and the Ox Tongue Lengua in Mushroom Sauce Php 250.  I especially love the Mondongo Cagayano. It reminds me of a homecooked meal with tomato sauce but there’s a taste that is uniquely Romeo’s romanticizing my palate.

Here are some #goodweird dishes from Romeo’s – Batangas Bulalo Php 499 and Ebi Tempura Php 230. You might think that their names and nature might be a little off from the very Antipolo feel of Romeo’s but this Filipino restaurants deliver the same flavor of goodness of these two dishes. Romeo’s Spice and Steak does have a Japanese section on their menu for those who are craving for sushi and tepanyaki. They also adopted the Batangas’ favorite Bulalo.

What makes dining at Romeo’s a lot more special? They bring back the traditional dining entertainment with a singing trio. They play old and new songs and they can add a good story on your #snapchat 🙂

The next time you are heading to Antipolo, take a sweet side trip to Robinsons Place Antipolo and check out the restaurants in this new shoppers’ paradise.

Thank you Robinsons team for always having me!
