Whenever we see an IT Girl, we always wonder how we can be an inch closer to being like her. Anne Curtis is one IT Girl we all love – a multi-faceted individual who is chic and fashionable in her own right. If it is not her chic #OOTD or exotic travel photo that she recently posted on Instagram, it is her makeup (especially the shade of the lipstick) that people would want to know about. It is the very reason that pushed her to come up with her own makeup line called blk Cosmetics.
“Makeup is something I’m very passionate about,” she says. “It’s part of who I am.” To bring this passion project to life, she partnered with businesswoman and beauty maven Jacqe Yuengtian Gutierrez to create a one-of-a kind makeup line that is all about uncomplicated beauty.
The intimate launch of Anne Curtis’ makeup line was held at the Manila House, Private Club last September 20, 2017.
Being the simple and “black”-lover that I am, I instantly fell in love with the branding and its name. blk is timeless, elegant and uncomplicated. Anne wants a brand that aims to standout by going back to basics. Makeup can be a little too intimidating when you look at the aisles of different tubes, shades and packaging. Anne wants only essentials that would allow her to play and experiment with her look.
I love that Anne is not just basically “endorsing” the makeup line. She is involved in the whole process – from conceptualizing to reviewing the shades and testing the formulas, as well as getting down to the nitty-gritty of product packaging. The best part about blk is that it has a certification for cruelty-free from PETA.

I would say, the blk cosmetics can be a good starter kit for those who would love to learn how to wear and apply makeup. During the launch, Anne showed different videos that show how she prepares in the morning and (date) night. It is true how girls spend more time choosing the perfect clothes, and doing the makeup. I personally cannot do full-makeup every (day or) night – date or not – but I do love products like blk cosmetics that can cut down makeup time and help me focus on more important things – and people.
I always want things to be uncomplicated (and maybe in black). 😀
