I always fancy slim and sleek laptops, and I am a believer that small can be powerful too.

My new Asus Zenbook UX425 in Lilac Mist can be any chic girl’s dream laptop – slim, sleek and powerful, with interesting features that we didn’t realize we need.

I received it last month and I got an awesome time to play and use it for my everyday work.

Although we do not want to judge things by its cover or box, the Asus Zenbook UX425 in Lilac Mist is packaged in a box that gives us that impression that we have something premium inside.

Inside is the world’s slimmest and lightest 14-inch laptop. It looks modern, yet subtle. A beautiful Lilac Mist color that reflects a nice tone in light. Lilac Mist is associated with neo-romanticism and charm with a sense of modernity. It may appear delicate, but it has high-end features in matte spun-metal finish.

l rarely use the adjective pretty to describe a laptop. Asus Zenbook UX425 is one of the rare pretty laptops that I got to use. It looks pretty in every angle, and the design functions for specific reasons.

Design: ErgoLift Hinge

When I opened the Asus Zenbook UX425 in Lilac Mist, the first thing I noticed is the signature Asus EgoLift Hinge design that elevates the laptop at a slight angle for easier typing position. The position gives a desktop-like experience, removing tension in our wrists when typing for long hours.

It also adds an extra ventilation space between the machine and the surface you are working on – allowing the air to flow to keep the machine cool, while also improving the performance of the speaker delivering more clear sound and bass. This happens smoothly without interfering with the overall design and aesthetic.

Keyboard

The Asus Zenbook UX425 in Lilac Mist is designed for people on the go and always working online. It is equipped with full-sized edge-to-edge keyboard with backlit (perfect for those who work in lowlit environment or with chill mood in their room). The space between keys are comfortable and I love the bounce, feel and sound when typing. Everything adds to the whole experience.

There is also a dedicated FUNCTION key for different short cuts and commands. Although I personally rarely use this, I think it is perfect for those who love to click Function for taking screen captures, display projection options, etc.

I also love the dedicated NumberPad on the trackpad that is perfect for those who always work with numbers.

I/O Ports

Asus Zenbook UX425 is the world’s thinnest laptop that houses a full range of I/O ports. There’s a USB 3.2 Gen-1 Type A port for the usual gadgets, two USB-C ports with Thunderbolt support allowing you to transmit data, audio and streams faster, HDMI port (for connecting projectors for big screen presentations), and micro-USB for memory cards (perfect for those who love to take photos and videos.).

If you are wondering why there is no audio jack for your headphones, the Asus Zenbook UX425 comes with USB-C DAC in the box. I think Asus thinks that people mostly use bluetooth for connecting their headphones – but for traditional listeners like me, I have the connector handy. The USB-C ports also allow you to charge your Asus Zenbook using powerbanks.

22-Hour Battery Life

As the Asus Zenbook UX425 in Lilac Mist is designed for mobile people and travelers, it is also packed with 22-hour battery life. It also has a fast-charge feature that allow you to restore the battery for up to 60% charge level in 40 minutes.

Although I wasn’t able to really exhaust and test its battery life since I am just home (and have access to power connection), for the whole day, I used it to check email, create blogs, present in live stream, and watch Netflix at night, and it didn’t give up on me. I think it is perfect for long-haul flights and travel when you do not have easy access to chargers and outlets.

Slimmest and Lightest 14-inch Laptop

Slim at only 13.9 mm thin and weighs 1.13 kg, the Asus Zenbook UX425 has an impressive design. Even if I am not currently traveling, I experienced how light and convenient it is to use (especially for my Live Streams when there is a need for me to show a presentation).

It looks pretty in my Instagram feed (hey, follow me @ruthilicious) and I know it will fit in my favorite travel bag.

The Verdict

If you love something sleek that has a smooth performance, and can stay with you for hours, the Asus Zenbook UX425 in Lilac Mist is a good choice to buy. I use it to create content (articles and videos), prepare worksheets and presentation, and even watch movies and Youtube videos. I think it is awesome to #DiscoverYourZen.
