Mindoro is a popular destination for beach lovers and adventure seekers. One interesting thing I learned about Mindoro Oriental is, it is a favorite motorcycle destination of motorcycle enthusiasts.
Think of wide roads with beautiful green rice fields and rolling hills as your view. Unlike in the busy streets of Metro Manila, it is easier to ride (or back-ride) a motorcycle and enjoy going to tourist spots rockstar-style.
We did exactly like that during my recent trip to Mindoro Oriental with the Department of Tourism (DOT) MIMAROPA and the Oriental Mindoro Motorcycle Riders Club.
I have previously tried back-riding motorcycle, one time from Manila to Zambales, and via a Vespa Ride in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. But it still felt like a new experience for me in Mindoro Occidental.
We started our journey in Tamaraw Falls where we were assigned a motorcycle rider. I got to ride with Sir Raymond who is a teacher by profession.
The journey started with slopes, but Sir Raymond was careful and ran at 40/kph. We were leading the group and I got an exclusive view of the scenic rice fields and bridges on our way to Infinity Farm.
At times, he would raise his hand to send a signal to the group. The curious me had to ask for the meaning of such (I want to make sure we were not facing any danger, hehe).
During the first few minutes of the ride, I couldn’t relax and I felt that my legs were so tense. Later on, I just enjoyed the view and let my body follow the path, especially when making turns.
We originally planned to take a break and get on the van if it started raining; but when the rain poured, I just decided to keep the ride going. Good for me that I was wearing a jacket, but the raindrops felt like piercings if you were riding a fast motorcycle ride.
We arrived safely at Infinity Farm, thank you to our dedicated riders from the Oriental Mindoro Motorcycle Riders Club.
