For someone who doesn’t drive in her own country and doesn’t have a driver’s license, I always seem to find myself driving in places I never imagined—like the trails of Mt. Mayon and around Boracay. During my recent winter trip to Sapporo, I found myself behind the wheel again—this time, driving a snowmobile through Japan’s snow-covered trails.
Snowmobile Experience
This is one of the must-do activities when visiting Sapporo, Japan.
We booked this experience in advance via Klook. During the hotel pick-up, we simply had to present our booking and confirm our names. The package included hotel pick-up and drop-off, with an option to add lunch.
We were picked up at the nearest hotel (about a five-minute walk from ours). Upon arrival at the site, we were ushered into a designated area where we could store our bags and change into waterproof jackets and pants.
Our package included the use of jackets, pants, a helmet, and gloves (though I brought my own).

Before the ride, the instructor provided a briefing on how to operate the snowmobile. If you have basic driving and navigation skills, it’s a very safe and easy ride.
We cruised through various slopes and snow-covered trails, surrounded by stunning views and landscapes. Our instructor used hand signals to ensure safety throughout the ride.

This is a great alternative for those who don’t want to ski or snowboard.
Driving a snowmobile is an incredibly freeing experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Sapporo.
