Tablets have become an essential tool for both professionals and students, offering the portability of a smartphone with the functionality of a laptop—all at a more affordable price.
If you’re searching for a budget-friendly tablet for your kids, consider the new LUMOS Tablet, which delivers solid performance for under Php 6,999! Known for its high-quality projectors, LUMOS has now expanded into gadgets, including tablets.
Since I primarily use a laptop and smartphone for work, I had to reacquaint myself with using a tablet again.

Unboxing the LUMOS Tablet + First Impressions
The LUMOS Tablet Bundle includes the LUMOS Tablet unit, keyboard, mouse, stylus, case, cable, and charger. Considering its price, I’m quite impressed with the quality of the items—even the packaging feels premium.
The LUMOS Tablet is a simple yet functional 10-inch Android device. It’s lightweight and comfortable to hold, making it especially suitable for kids. The power button is located on the top right side, with the volume buttons positioned next to it. It also features a camera, making it convenient for video calls and online meetings.

The screen supports 4K resolution, delivering crisp and clear visuals. It runs on 8GB of RAM, a feature typically found in devices that cost twice as much. With a 6000 mAh battery, it offers up to 8 hours of runtime—ideal for both studying and playtime, or as a companion for short-haul flights.
How I Use the LUMOS Tablet for Work and Entertainment
Now, let’s put the LUMOS Tablet to the test. I’ve been mostly at home these past weeks, so I’ve primarily used it for entertainment.
The LUMOS Tablet runs on the Android operating system, which you can easily set up with a Google account. This gives you access to various apps like Netflix, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook. It also has Karaoke Apps for those who love to sing and host parties with friends.

It also comes with pre-installed kids’ and educational apps, which you can upgrade to a premium account. This is a thoughtful feature for parents who want to provide educational content for their children. I can imagine using it with my nephew for studying.
For freelancers and content creators like me, the LUMOS Tablet includes the WPS Office app, which allows you to create presentations and access or edit documents. I used it to sign contracts with the bundled stylus, and the experience was smooth—the stylus glides effortlessly on the screen.

To achieve a full work setup, I converted it into a mini-laptop. The case cover doubles as a stand, and the keyboard connects easily via Bluetooth (just make sure it’s fully charged, while the mouse uses a battery). I quickly adapted to using it as a laptop—the keyboard, though made of plastic, works perfectly fine for typing. During my recent travels, I mostly brought a tablet instead of my laptop, so this mini-laptop setup could work well for tasks that don’t require deep work.

The LUMOS Tablet handles everyday tasks like checking emails, working on documents, updating spreadsheets, browsing online, listening to podcasts, streaming videos, and playing light games, such as kids’ games.
I spent the weekend watching Netflix’s K-drama When Life Gives You Tangerines and streamed it on the LUMOS Tablet. It played smoothly, with good display quality and sound. Even when watching next to my window with natural light, the screen projected vibrant colors and clear visuals.

For a more immersive experience, I can conveniently screen-cast the LUMOS Tablet to a smart TV!
Final Verdict
The LUMOS Tablet proves to be a solid choice for entertainment, light work, and casual browsing. Its smooth performance in streaming, access to essential productivity apps, and versatility as a mini-laptop make it a practical device. While it’s not designed for heavy or intensive tasks, it handles everyday activities effortlessly. The inclusion of a stylus, educational apps, and easy connectivity makes it an ideal tablet for kids and students.

The LUMOS Tablet is priced at Php 6,999 (tablet) and Php 8,499 (Bundle)
