[Hotel Review] Matabungkay Beach Resort

April 18, 2015
This time last week, we were on our way to Batangas for a weekend staycation in Matabungkay Beach Resort.   I was originally planning to do a city staycation, but I decided to go and joined the gang for a weekend trip.
The event was for the relaunch of Matabungkay Beach Resort.
I had previously heard the name Matabungkay, but I didn’t have a story to tell (yet). I know Batangas is the place for diving spots; and the resorts we have previously visited are hidden in rough roads – I was not expecting a paradise en route to our destination.
We passed by a narrow street with rough road, public resorts and a strip of sari-sari stores. I was asking myself where can I find the beautiful pools and scenes Google had shown me when I searched Matabungkay Beach Resort?

We finally reached the destination and I was not disappointed. What greeted us – a spacious lobby with interesting interior design of capiz and wood.

We were then escorted to our own little space. I love the spacious bedroom which can accommodate up to 6 pax! There is double bed and 2 sofa beds. The room is complete with hot & cold shower, TV with cable, toiletries and minibar.

I find the room a little dim though, with very little natural light coming through the window (which is still, perfect for photoshoots – thank you to our friends – Michael and Justin!).  I would however prefer the TV in front of the bed though. 😉

Looking for the pools? There are 3 in the resort! The official launch of the Matabungkay Beach Resort was held in the poolside – there were dancing lights, funky music and alcohol mixes!

Kid’s Pool (where I felt safer ;))

Another pool near the Cogon Bar

We were feeling a bit old to party so we decided to stay near the beach. It was fun to go on a trip with new friends. We talked about life, blogging and blog life (and #whogoats!). Haha.

When we thought of finally hitting the sack, we found the Cogon Bar a bit enticing so we decided to order pizza and fries! Then, we did a short photoshoot in the pool. The pool boy asked us to leave at 12 midnight (we thought we could stay until morning!). We are no Cinderella and we could stay past midnight, right? But they take sanitation seriously and they needed to clean the pool. He allowed us to stay a few more minutes before he firmly asked us to leave.

The following day was when we finally saw the beautiful views and scenes in Matabungkay Beach Resort (we even transferred to a villa!). More pictures and stories on my next blog post! For now here’s what I love about Matabungkay Beach Resort:
♥ The pools!
♥ Spacious place with lots of greens!
♥ Water sports activities available:  banana boats, jet ski
♥ Indoor sports activities and boards available like darts, table tennis and billiards.
♥ The food is great! I recommend Lechon Kawali!
♥ Bonfire? Yes, they can do that, just bring ghost stories! (more on that on the next post!)
♥We love that we can still have privacy. We were lucky to be visit on a weekend and extended our stay until Monday afternoon  🙂
♥ There is a sari-sari store in front of the resort which is open until 10 am where you can buy your snacks and chichiria! Yay!
Watch-out:
Wifi and Data Connection. But the team is working on that 🙂 I would suggest you stay in Cogon Bar if you need to stay connected online; but on a lighter note, this weakness can be a good thing – it lets you enjoy the view especially the sunset 🙂
My look when Kuya Pool Boy told us it was time for us to go 🙂
Shot by Michael with direction by Justin
You guys should see our fun eksena with Justin and Michael during the first night!
These guys are really talented and perfectionists! My learning that night, I can never be a model! Haha 😉

Side story: the following morning, #TeamYup and #SephandTrice told us that we were chatting noisily and they thought we never slept! All they couldn’t make sense what topics we were discussing but Seph and Trice said that they could hear me cracking a joke and everyone would laugh. We stayed in the suite in between theirs, so the lesson, the Matabungkay Beach Resort suites are not sound-proof. Haha 😉
