Anya Resort Tagaytay:  Luxurious Boutique Hotel

Tagaytay is a popular destination for quick weekend trips and staycations. We recently drove down south to Tagaytay and spent a weekend in Anya Resort and Residences. It is one of the 3 hotels in the Philippines which is included in the Small Luxury Hotels site.

But Anya Resort and Residences didn’t make luxurious staycation even an inch intimidating; the place is actually very homey and the staff is very warm and welcoming.

Whenever a guest or group arrives, a gong is stuck to alert the staff of your presence. You would feel instantly like a royal, but instead of arriving in a red-carpet entrance, you would be welcomed with an open living area. A staff would arrive to serve you cold towels and some refreshment.

There is no reception area or front desk in Anya Resort and Residences. There are Lifestyle Assistants who would help you with the check in process and even customize your activities, room, and little details of your stay (including what kind of pillow you want for your bed). I heard that they can even arrange a Tagaytay Tour for the guests. But because I already fell in love with the hotel, I opted to just stay in.

Anya Resort is a vision of how I wanted my living room to be – spacious, with high-ceiling, glass panels and greens everywhere.

There are 88 rooms in the property, 3 restaurants, a library, function rooms and 2 heated pools (in case you find the weather in Tagaytay a little too cold for taking a dip).

Anya Resort Room
We stayed in a Junior Suite with King -Sized Bed. The room has the usual luxury hotel amenities like TV with cable, hot & cold shower, toiletries, flat iron, safety box, bath tub and his and hers sink.

We got the view of the pool from our suite.

I really love the bathroom because it is well-maintained and spacious. It has his and hers sinks, a shower area, and nice bath tub. There is a space for doing one’s makeup which is well-lit and spacious (even if the room was shared by two girls).

The Lifestyle Assistant ensured that we got the bubble bath set for us during the turn down service at night.

Anya Resort Restaurants: Samira, Anila and Amra
Anya Resort and Residences has 3 dining outlets: Samira, a semi-fine dining restaurant with a private setting and pool-side view; Amra Deli Bar, a cafe and wine bar; and Anila Poolside, a specialty-deli cafe that serves pizza, pasta and sandwiches.

Each of the restaurant has an impressive menu as headed by Executive Chef Frenchman Jonathan Bauthiaux. We were served with the most intricately prepared dishes – from the selection of ingredients (only the freshest and organic), to preparation and down to the plating. Each of the meal that was taken out from the kitchen is a masterpiece.

When we arrived, we had quick a brunch at Anila and ordered coffee and banana cake (the best one!)  I got to take home a loaf and stored in a fridge, and surprisingly, it still tasted good and fluffy on a bite.

Our staycation in Anya Restaurant is a gustatory journey, we headed straight to dinner after some drinks. We enjoyed the 4-course meal while debating over the viral creepy audio that calls for Yanny (or Laurel, they say).

This Truffle Pasta is everything
Anya Resort wants to promote farm-to-table approach in their menu. The property also started growing herbs which are mostly used in their food offerings.

The following morning, we had breakfast at Anila Poolside. The buffet spread offers the usual breakfast and more – and by more I mean, cheese platter and good bread selections.

Anya Resort Facilities
We got to tour the Anya Resort which guests can do so by foot or by golf cart. We decided to walk around the area. It was a good exercise and the place is surrounded with lush greens.
Anya Resort has everything you need for a relaxing staycation – there is spa, gym, 2-heated pools and a library. For those who need to work, there is WIFI connectivity in every room and common area.

I especially love the library that has a nice collection of books which you can borrow and bring to the pool side. It also has a chess board (ah, my sport! A board game!) and comfortable couches if you want to stay in for your quiet time.

We really felt truly at home when the General Manager poured and served us wine.
Anya Resort and Residences defines luxury in a homey atmosphere. The staff always greet us with a smile and a pleasant “welcome home” greeting. Our weekend staycation was impressive – from the facilities, room, service and food.

I think, what really impressed me is how hands-on everyone is in making sure the guests have the best experience during their stay. I have seen how the General Manager has assisted the guests and helped the staff while doing occasional rounds in the property. I love how the staff feel comfortable with their managers around. They are empowered and motivated, and they love what they are doing – and such atmosphere translate into a relaxing experience that every guest enjoys.
