Juan Earth 5th Anniversary Celebration: Juan Step to Save the Earth
Going green is one of the advocacy that is close to my heart. I will always remember our meaningful project in Makassar, Indonesia during my #IBMCSC deployment, where we helped a hospital with their green efforts. One thing that we stressed about the implementation of the project is the Mindset Setting. People need to be dedicated to the change.
But just like any other goals, it is not easy to attain, and requires little steps and small efforts.

I admit that it is not easy to change one’s lifestyle. Every goal is a journey. The best I could do is to remain naturally curious, keep the awareness and do small things.
I was honored to be invited to the Juan Earth 5th Anniversary Celebration in BGC last Saturday, September 29, 2018. It was a whole day dedicated to supporting causes and promoting advocacy to help save the environment and minimize wastage.
I came early to witness the ribbon cutting ceremony led by Karen Tui and Koko Tamura, founders of Write on Track.
After our quick breakfast at the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf (I love this brand who is also supporting this event!), we roam around to check out the different booths.
Most of the booths offer cute trinkets, stickers, lanyards and knick knacks that they sell at a minimal price. The sales would then be used to support their cause. I am hopeful to make them a part of my #bloggermailproject next time.
During the event, you could adopt a rescued pet, donate empty plastic bottles and just join in the fun (and raffle!)
I would really want to own a pet but I think I am not yet ready to be a paw-rent. 🐾
During my stroll and interaction with the organizations, I learned about different advocacy that these organizations represent. Take for example how University of Philippines Marine Science Institute is raising giant clams (endangered specie) through Adopt a Clam project in which they would take care and nourish one in Bolinao Marine Laboratory.
The SaveSharks booth has a really fun roving photo wall with “Baby Shark” 🦈 theme. A cute way to get people’s attention and inform about ways to save the sharks and marine life.
At the SIFCARE booth, I learned that you can adopt a turtle. This organization ensures that when new turtle eggs are laid, they are taken to a protected area in La Union until they are hatched. I found out that some locals get the eggs and sell/eat them. We don’t want that. 🐢
There’s a beautiful mess happening at the EcoBrick booth where you can donate empty plastic bottles which they also fill and use as substitute for hollow blocks in building homes.
Here are more items that you could buy to show your support for the environment – from personal care items, shirt, souvenirs, gifts and pet products.
There were food stalls too, like this colorful plate from Wei Wei.
At night, Write On Track announced the winners of the Juan Earth Photo Contest and grand raffle prize of an international trip for the real Panda experience! I was sinking in envy. 😀
The event ended with a live performance by Silent Sanctuary.
It felt like being in one of their concerts!
It was amazing to witness and be part of such a celebration, and see these hard-working people having a good time and sharing the same advocacy.
with blogger friends: Az, Jeman, Mommy Myrns, host Renz Ongkiko, Rochelle, Jonel, Marj and Rodel,
