Cebu Pacific (CEB), the Philippines’ leading carrier, recently announced updates and exciting news to make traveling more safer and easier as the country slowly recovers from the recession triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic.

New Voluntary Flight Change Policy

Starting July 1, the travel fund option for voluntary flight changes will only be available for passengers who pre-purchased the CEB Flexi add-on during initial booking as this new and improved product allows passengers to cancel their flights for free, up to two (2) hours before departure, and store the value of the booking in a Travel Fund for as low as PHP 499.

The amount in this virtual wallet is valid for two (2) years and may be used to book new flights or purchase other add-ons such as seat selection, additional baggage allowance, or travel insurance.Passengers who wish to change their bookings voluntarily without purchasing CEB Flexi can make use of the Unlimited Rebooking option of CEB and rebook as many times as they want up to two (2) hours before their scheduled time of departure. CEB has permanently removed change fees since March to provide guests with the much-needed flexibility during this time.

Most affordable RT-PCR swab test for only PHP 2,500

To date, Cebu Pacific has flown 4.5 million COVID-19 doses from China in coordination with the DOH, on top of more than 1.1 million doses delivered safely from Manila to 13 provinces in the country.

The Philippines’ leading airline, Cebu Pacific ramps up its Test Before Boarding (TBB) process as it now offers the cheapest RT-PCR test at only P2,500 versus other local carriers, exclusively for its passengers. CEB offers the RT-PCR test through its two accredited partners –Health Metrics, Inc. (HMI) and Safeguard DNA Diagnostics Inc. (SDDI). This special rate is solely for passengers booked on Cebu Pacific and Cebgo.

As a number of local and international destinations still require negative RT-PCR test results prior to entry, CEB has ensured this requirement is made more accessible and affordable through these reduced rates. Results are guaranteed to be released within 48 hours, while a guaranteed 24-hour turnaround period is priced at PHP 3,200 for both laboratories.

Permanent removal of change fees 

Cebu Pacific permanently removes change fees, allowing passengers to rebook as many times as they need. The carrier believes that flexibility is critical in restoring passenger confidence in air travel.

With the removal of change fees, passengers may now rebook their flights as many times as they need at no cost. A minimal fare difference may still apply.

The IATF has recently released a new set of simplified requirements for domestic travel which states that travel authorities and health certificates will no longer be needed. Quarantine protocols will also be only required for those showing symptoms.

Call for faster vaccine rollout

Right now, there are multi-sectoral initiatives working in conjunction with the Department of Health (DOH) and the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to help manage the country’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.  One such initiative is the Ingat Angat, a cooperation of companies who have committed to pool their resources to help restart the economy.
