Review: Huawei Watch 3 and Huawei Smart Scale 3 Pro

September 15, 2021

I have been a fan and user of Huawei Wearables for years now. I really like how these gadgets help me stay stylish, while assisting me in finding balance in life, living more intentionally each day.

Huawei recently launched the HUAWEI Watch 3 and HUAWEI Smart Scale 3 Pro which I have been using for 2 weeks. You can read my unboxing article or keep on reading for my quick review. Sharing here how I use them to help me achieve my wellness goals.

Huawei Watch 3

The HUAWEI Watch 3 is a simple smart watch with really premium features. Although I prefer the silver/elite model, I am quite good with the Active Model that is minimal and all black. I really love its 3D curve glass design that shows really vibrant color and animated icons. The large, ultra-vivid 1.43″ AMOLED display made the immersive experience possible. The apps are neatly set in Grid which you can zoom in and out, or scroll using the screen, or the dial. Despite its size and design (I love the Boyfriend watch feels of it), it feels light to wear with responsive raise-to-wake function.

The HUAWEI Watch 3 kept all the smart watch features present in previous HUAWEI Smart Watches and Fitness Bands, and even added more cool features. It is the first HUAWEI Watch that is run with Harmony OS (we all got familiar with it after reviewing the HUAWEI VIsion S), so yes, I got the little voice assistant with me who can play music, open apps, and even tell me the weather situation.

The e-SIM Management also allows me to connect it with my phone (using the same number), allowing me to receive notifications and even answer calls. I think it is useful for those who are working in a profession that needs you to be on-call. As for me, I prefer not to activate it so I can have less distraction when I want to focus on things and tasks. But again, it is handy to have this feature especially when I don’t want to stay glued on my phone, and if I am waiting for important calls or notifications.

In the future, I think I would find feature really helpful especially that I am now working as a part-time Financial Advisor/Consultant, and my commitment is to always be of help to my clients. The speaker for the HUAWEI Watch 3 is actually very loud and clear, considering its size.

I mostly use the HUAWEI Watch 3 for working out. There are over 100+ workout modes, which is nice to have when I get the chance to explore those routines. For now, I really love doing light cardio, Barre and Yoga, and being able to access my Workout Records. I noticed that the Workout Summary also shows percentage of Fatigue aside from the recovery hours (very helpful data).

The HUAWEI Watch 3 also has helpful health metrics like Skin Temperature and SpO2 monitoring which gives you fast and ready data to monitor symptoms of Covid-19. These are essential features especially that the we are dealing with bloating numbers of Covid-19 patients.

As for me, I really love the Sleep Monitoring, and I am happy to be getting at least 6 to 8 hours of sleep everyday. Sleeping is one of my life’s luxuries. The report also shows quality of sleep, hours in specific sleep mode and how we can improve our sleep quality.

All Health Data and Metrics are sync in the HUAWEI Health app. It is nice to have access to this information, because through this type of data we can make more informed decisions in changing our workout routines and daily habits.

The HUAWEI Watch 3 can last me for up to 3 days, but I do not let the battery drain, and I just charge it as needed – or when I need it for my workout. The charger is fixed to its cable, and a different type to the previous HUAWEI GT 2 watch I use.

One of my favorite features is the ability to change the Watch Face. I always go for anything simple, or black but I still want to add colors in my ensemble, and I can achieve that with HUAWEI Watch 3. There are different designs and styles that I can download through the app and sync to my watch. The coolest feature is it allows me to make a 5 to 10-second video that I can use as a watch face. I used the Boomerang Video from my trip to Fukuoka as a watch face.

I love how it gives me freedom to express myself and style.

HUAWEI Smart Scale 3 Pro

If you would give me a device that can provide insight about myself and my body, I would take it. It is exactly what the HUAWEI Smart Scale 3 Pro is all about.

The HUAWEI Smart Scale 3 Pro has 8 Electrodes that measure both your lower and upper limbs — providing you with much more precise, full-body data. It is easy to connect and use. Simply open the HUAWEI Health app, and add the device. Once connected, you simply step on the HUAWEI Smart Scale 3 Pro and hold the bar. The Huawei App would alert you once the measurement is complete.

You would then have access to different health data such as BMI, Body Fat Rate, Skeletal Muscle, Body Composition, Visceral Fat, Limb Skeletal Muscle, Basal Metabolic Rate, Body Water, Bone Mineral Content, Protein, Fat- Free Mass, Heart Rate. It gives 12 segmental body indicators, as well as science-based advice on losing fat, and gaining muscle.

These are very helpful data which can help you make lifestyle adjustments to meet your wellness goal.

I think one of the improvements I would want to see in the report is the normal range for each health data. This way, we can easily see through the Health App if we are in the normal range. For now, we can do quick consultation through Google to see if we are in the normal range, and how we can improve to meet our wellness goals.

Staying healthy and fit is a lifestyle, and it is truly the small changes and decisions everyday that can make a difference in our lives. It is good to have wearables that can help us achieve our goals and simplify our work.
