Digital Walker Launches Urbanears Earphones

July 6, 2011

I have never embraced the whole iPod/MP3 player fad. It’s ironic sine I was even the first to own a Walkman and Discman when I was still in school. Maybe I am just not comfy having those earphones plugged in my ears while walking/commuting/hang-ing out with friends; BUT it doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate music, and I don’t use earphones – I love earphones; and I feel guilty that I mostly buy the ones which are cute/stylish/fashionable even if they get dysfunctional after a few use – when in fact I only use them while doing my work at the office (one of the benefits I get from my work).

So when I got an invite to the launching of new earphones line last Friday at Digital Walker, I have to go to find out if there is such an earphone that is sleek, fashionable and gives quality sound. The answer is, there are actually five from the Urbanears!

Urbanears is not new in the market. It is based in Stockholm, Sweden and is a leading manufacturer of earphones. It has actually been featured in several magazines such as Vogue and Elle (and now in my blog ;)), and has also won several awards like “People’s Choice” for this year’s Stora Designpriset in Sweden,  and design awards such as IFA in Germany. Urbanears has also created exclusive headphones for Wired Magazine.

What I like about the Urbanears’ earphones/headphones is that they do not just give clear sound but assures no disturbance (think of static sound you hear when you are moving and shaking). The collection also comes in different colors – matching your mood and style. The cord has alternative materials – not the typical type that chips and cracks. Interesting feature is that Urbanears products are made to play with any music-playing device with a 3.5mm standard socket. It also has a microphone and remote feature, as most of the music players are also mobile phones.

Now let’s meet the Urbanears products:

The Bagis

This is the perfect earphones for your portable music device

Featuring earplug construction for direct sound and efficient noise reduction, the Bagis is a compact version of the full Urbanears experience. It features rubber housing along with a combined fabric and TPE cord to eliminate distortions caused by friction. As a bonus, each earpiece snaps together, allowing you to carry them around your neck when not in use.

You can snap it together and let it hang in your neck!
Small, medium or large? What type of bud you need? It is included in the pack.
Affordable and worth your money than buying cute Php150- worth earphones every month!
The Medis

With the perfect “curve” for comfy experience

The Medis is an unprecedented experience in ergonomics and functionality. EarClick Construction secures the earpiece at two separate points rather than one, relieving pressure from the ear canal for a more comfortable fit while keeping it firmly in place.

The Tanto

This reminds me of the typical headset used by Contact Center Agents!

The Tanto is constructed for maximum mobility without the compromise of performance, and is adorned with a sleek and minimalist look. We designed it thinking you’d want the full sound experience in a lightweight and portable headphone made for everyday use—to be taken along wherever you go.

The Plattan

I feel like a recording artist using this headphone!

The Plattan is designed to be the perfect classic headphone with all the additional features that make it above and beyond what a static headphone would offer. It is a full size on-ear model with a rich secluded sound in a compact body. It folds down to the size of your fist and comes with a ZoundPlug, allowing for a friend to plug in and share your music.

The Plattan Plus

Plattan Plus is a version of the Plattan headphone that features an Apple certified microphone and remote, with the additional functionality of volume control. It is sold exclusively in Apple Stores in the U.S. and Canada, and online at apple.com and Urbanears.com

Wondering where to buy Urbanears products? Check out the Digital Walker in Eastwood. Interesting enough, beside the Digital Walker store is the DWC (Digital Walker Cafe) where you can order good food and drinks after a tiresome shopping. Watch out for my next post about the DWC.
