Unboxing and Quick Review: Lenovo Yoga 2 11

June 23, 2014

I received this package last week and I only got a chance to do the ceremonial unboxing the other day.

** SIDE STORY: I am editing this post because I initially thought I got a Yoga 2 Pro, only to find out it is a Yoga 2 11 (thank you Insider Jonas! :)). This is what happens when you save all your excitement and go for a test drive without checking other people’s review, website, or even the manual. 🙂 That’s how I do my review mostly, even for movies’.
While my friends offered to do the unboxing for me, I felt more matured to be able to delay all this (well, they say this is no longer the basis for measuring one’s EQ). I am trying to convince them that I have such high EQ to let this box sit in my room for a week without touching and tinkering with its features – typical behavior when you receive a new gadget.
I posted this teaser in Facebook and my friends even got more anxious 😉

I was expecting a tablet, but I got more curious when I saw the text that says
“Congratulations on your new laptop”.
I hold the package and was surprised at how light it feels for a laptop,
and I saw more signs.. Yoga 2!
Anyway, enough of the talk.. may I present to you, my new partner in blogging.. the Lenovo Yoga 2 11!

I gave it a once-over like a girl on a date – it is light-weight, sleek, with clean lines and matte finish.  I am initially impressed. I love the sophisticated shade of orange. But what can it do?

Lenovo Yoga 2 11 is very feminine actually.

Look at how thin it looks compared to my Lenovo P770
Box includes charger, adapter, manual and other publications
The silver hinges are not there for nothing,
find out what it can do.. Keep reading..
Light-weight at 1.45kg (3.2 lbs); 17.2mm (0.68″) thick (SSHD model)

I have yet to test the battery life, but Lenovo never disappoint.
The one thing that made me love this brand. Battery life!
Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro promises 6 hours of continuous battery life.
Again, I have yet to do test drive.
The keyboard lights up and is best when working at night.
And yes,Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro runs with Intel Pentium N3520 Processor( 2.166GHz 1333MHz 2MB)
I am still learning my way through this new Operating System 🙂 I feel so techy!
Screen is an impressive 11 inch display, with nice high quality resolution.
Laptop Mode
Have I told you Lenovo Yoga 2 11 has touchscreen display? Check out:
More of on the zoom-in feature:
Now you will ask, why it is called a Lenovo Yoga? It is not called yoga for nothing. Lenovo Yoga 2 11 is a flexible gadget, too flexible you will be surprised with its flip and fold design.
Lenovo Yoga 2 11 is not just a multi-function laptop but a full-function tablet! It offers four different modes with different suggested apps. I call it a Transformer as it can be used as laptop, and a tablet (and even a player). The picture and video above shows the Lenovo Yoga 2 11 in Laptop Mode, now see below for the Tent Mode.

Yes, enjoying Maroon 5 here.

It was funny that when I transformed it into this mode, my dad told
me to be careful with the new gadget. I told him this is how fun and flexible
Lenovo Yoga 2 11 is!

This looks convenient too 🙂

LENOVO YOGA 2 11 TABLET MODE

Now, look at this!

I have fully used the hinges and folded my laptop and turned it into tablet!

Amazing right? Lenovo is really for those who do!

I have to be honest that I was a bit careful and cautious when transforming the Lenovo Yoga 2 11 in different modes. What I love is that everytime it changes to a new form, I hear a sound and a display shows the mode with tool tip that brings me to Yoga Picks. Yoga Picks is like your very own help guide that suggests suitable apps based on the device’s mode. I will explore these new apps and will share my review. For now, I am loving that Zinio is pre-installed which I can use in Tablet Mode.

There is also Yoga Camera Man that allows users to take photos with effects like lomo, 4-in-1, and other effects! So excited to explore and do more things with this new Lenovo Yoga 2.

I checked the market price of Lenovo Yoga 2 11 in the Philippines, and it sells at Php 35,000. I find it really affordable and fashionable for a laptop, no.. a tablet.. okay, an ultrabook! If you want to go for higher memory, and bigger display, you can go with Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro. 🙂
