Part 2 of 5 series of #RuthGoestoBukidnon #OABloggerAko Series sponsored by the Agricultural Training Institute.
It was a long, rough drive from Cervantes Farm to our next destination – in the Manolo Fortrich in Dahilayan Bukidnon, the place of Del Monte Pineapple Farm, the Alomah’s Place Organic Farm. It was raining hard, my battery was running low, my bladder was ready to explode – and all I could see was an endless road of lush greens and plantations. It was a beautiful site to be stranded.
When we finally got to our destination, the couple Mr. Benjohn and Mrs Grace Mahistrado greeted us with (guess what?) more greens of lettuce and fresh mint leaves, tarragon and stivia. The traditional welcome drink that they offer their guests. The best part? You get to help yourself with unlimited salad with their special salad dressing (I bought 4 bottles on our way home!). I was very excited to indulge on organic food during our trip.
We were supposed to have our tour that afternoon but because of the bad weather, the queen of this organic kingdom shared with us how they started the farm. They were like college sweethearts who fell in love, got married and started a family. The difference? They worked hard to acquire, build and nourish the 2 hectare farm that we were marveling at that moment.
Alomah’s Place is not just your typical organic farm, it is a perfect place for camping, team-building or just plain relaxation with family, friends or your self 🙂
Although we were told that we wouldn’t be staying in a hotel during the 4-day Farm Tour, I didn’t expect that we would be staying in a Tent!
Sir Benjohn proudly shared that they don’t have a 5-star accommodation but all-star accommodation because you can see the beautiful sky above just outside your tent. But because it was raining that night, we stayed in the Tent-Floor.
We were all so excited. It was my first time to do camping. It wasn’t very easy at first but I can always make adjustments. I love the chilly weather at night that taking a shower became so challenging for most of us. The water felt like it came from a freezer!
The following morning, we were greeted with a beautiful view. We started to tour the farm and see different high crop lettuce, herbs, mint leaves (of different varieties!), There’s a fish pond and animals roaming around the area.
Alomah’s Place provides the lowest cost and high quality lettuce in Bukidnon. They don’t use chemicals in their crops (and they are evidently green and beautiful).
The best part of the tour is horse-back riding. Sir Benjohn let us rode Riffle. He’s a certified rodeo and has won different awards.
I said, let’s have an #OOTD photo. He said, “nakuh, magiging model din pala ako”.
I asked, “what are you wearing, sir?”
He said “Levi’s”!
If you guys are planning for a sweet escape from the city and a different kind of nature-tripping, I highly recommend the Alomah’s Place in Dahilayan, Bukidnon.
Tents: Php 500 per night
Cottage: Php 2,500 (can accommodate 4 pax)
You might want to check out this site to know how to get to Alomah’s Place via commute (it is near Dahilayan Forest Park).
