Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Lite: Unboxing, Unedited Sample Photos and First Impression Review
I have taken a bazillion selfie photos even before the term was invented and even before smartphones were smarter.
The irony, I took less and less selfies now that I have access to smartphones or gadgets that have impressive front-view or selfie cameras. I guess, it is because I have different visions on how I want my photos to appear in my feed/album.
Asus recently sent me its Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Lite Smartphone. Always great to have a new phone to bring around to adventures.

Unboxing Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Lite kit comes with the Asus Unit, charger, USB cable, manual, earphones and a back case (which is perfect for me because I tend to abuse my phone especially during travels.
The Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Lite is very easy on the hands. It is sleek and simple. I love that they sent me the Sunight Gold color. It weighs 144 grams, with 5.5 inch IPS display.
The Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Lite retained its design similar to other Asus Zenfone smartphones with the dual-SIM and memory card slot on the left side, and the power and volume buttons on the right.
The 3.5 mm jack for earphones is on the top part, while at the bottom is the USB charge connector and built-in speakers.
It runs with Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor with 3GB RAM (which can be expanded to 32GB ROM) and is powered with 3,000 mah battery. The Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Lite is pre-downloaded with apps like Facebook, Instagram, and Gmail.
I was ready to play with it and take photos as soon as I turned it on.

Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Lite carries 13 megapixels cameras for both rear-view and front-view.
The front-view camera is powered by PixelMaster Camera with modes such as: Auto (with low light and HDR features), Beauty, Portrait, Pro (up to 32 seconds long exposure), Super Resolution (64 megapixels), GIF Animation, Panorama, Time Lapse (with power saving) and 9 various filters.
I find the filters interesting for creating dramatic Instagram Stories. The rear-view camera also allows users to take still photos while recording a video. This is perfect for covering sports event or fashion shows.
While, the Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Lite Front-View Camera uses ASUS SelfieMaster technology for smart beautification in selfies, videos, and livestreams.
The front-view camera allows users to adjust the skin tone, make the skin brighter, enhance the eyes or add tint (for that pink glow on the cheeks!).
But honestly, even if I don’t use the Beautification Mode, I still get a good selfie photo.

The Verdict
For a price of Php 7,695.00, the Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Lite is a good deal for users who want an affordable yet decent smartphone that can take good photos and selfies. I would say, this is for users who need a smartphone for everyday use, or for capturing moments like out of town trips with family or summer outing with friends. Just like any other smartphones, it takes the best photos under good lighting condition. There are challenges in using the Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Lite under low light but photos can still be enhanced with good editing techniques.
I really love the Beautification Feature though which is perfect for me who rarely wears makeup. Don’t be surprised if I flood my Instagram Stories with dozens of #selfie photos.
The instant filters are real winners too especially for those who are just starting to learn how to edit their photos for the #feedgoals.
