HUAWEI Freebuds Studio Review
From smartphones, laptops, to smart watches and earphones, HUAWEI is expanding its line of products with the new HUAWEI Freebuds Studio. It is the brand’s first over-ear headphones and it is an awesome opportunity for me to own and experience its innovative design.Â
I haven’t used an over-ear headphone for ages. I thought this is something that I wouldn’t need because I always use my laptop’s speaker when listening to music and watching movies. The only time I use earphones is when traveling (on a plane, when watching movies).Â
As I expand my interests, HUAWEIÂ Freebuds Studio made a good companion for enhancing my experience and output.Â

HUAWEIÂ Freebuds Studio DesignÂ
It is as if HUAWEIÂ Freebuds Studio married minimalism and essentialism in its design. The overall look and feel of the HUAWEIÂ Freebuds Studio is clean, yet luxe. I love its simple design and black color. The HUAWEIÂ brand is neatly positioned on both sides of ear cups.Â
The ear cups and headbands are covered with black leather – like material, and are connected with adjustable metal rod. I love that the cups are rotatable, and can be laid flat. The buttons and features are hidden on the sides of the ear cups, including the USB slot for charging.Â
I think my only concern is if the leather-like material would peel off after sometime. I hope not. I tried scratching it with my fingernails, and happy it didn’t peel off.Â
When worn, the HUAWEIÂ Freebuds Studio is comfortable and easy to wear (and adjust). I was surprised that upon wearing it, it already provided a good cover and noise cancelling experience.Â
HUAWEIÂ Freebuds Studio Review and Experience
I haven’t used other over-ear headphones in the past, so this review is based on personal experience.Â
First, let’s talk about the HUAWEI Freebuds Studio ‘s powerful Active Noise Cancellation. It works in such a way that when using it at home, it minimizes the sound of my noisy aircon, and tone downs the voices of people around. I can hear my background music and audio while editing.Â
With a quick click on the button on the left ear cup, it activates Awareness. It basically captures human voices, and other sounds in the area (like barking dogs, and honking cars). This allowed me to talk to anyone without taking out my HUAWEIÂ Freebuds Studio. I think this is very convenient to use when going out and need to stay aware of our surroundings.Â
The HUAWEIÂ Freebuds Studio features IMU (Inertial measurement unit) sensor and Kirin A1 chip ROC form a multi-scene perceptionsystem, which can detect the scene changes all the time. This is perfect when you are traveling (airplane or subway), in public spaces like restaurant, or even at home. I am hopeful to test this feature (out when I travel).Â
One of HUAWEI Freebuds Studio’s cool features is that you can connect it to both your mobile phone and laptop / tablet. This allows me to answer calls (without taking off the headphone), and continue working or listening to music without interruption. The 8 Microphone System made this possible that uses 4 microphones for Active Noise Cancellation, and 6 microphones for Calls (2 outward microphones sharing the feature).Â
Another smart feature is when you take it off, it automatically stops/pauses the music; and when you pick it up and wear it again, it automatically plays the music. It just thought it is really smart and convenient, especially when watching movies – and I no longer need to go back to scenes I missed.Â
The HUAWEI Freebuds Studio keeps its stable Bluetooth connectivity with its dual antenna design. It means that even if it is in the bag, or busy place, you won’t lose your connection.Â
At this age of digital technology, I am still quite impressed with the touch control feature of HUAWEIÂ Freebuds Studio. I can easily adjust the volume of the music, or skip to the next song with just a quick Swipe Up, Down, Left or Right. While Double-Click can pause/play music, or answer/end calls.Â
Overall, I have an amazing time using my HUAWEI Freebuds Studio. I don’t think I would ever go back to using my tangled earphones.Â
It can play for 24 hours with just a 60-minute charging. While for those who are always on the go, you can charge it for 10 minutes, and it is ready to play for 8 straight hours (with ANC off).Â
I used the HUAWEI Freebuds Studio to edit videos, watch movies, listen to different types of music like that of my favorite Nirvana Unplugged, jazz music, and even BTS’ Dynamite. I have to say, the HUAWEI Freebuds Studio gave me a different experience and greater appreciation of artists I always love. Â
