Bid and Share the Love Through Ebay Celebrity Online Ukay Ukay

Ebay needs no further introduction. But for those who are not yet very familiar about online shopping, Ebay is the biggest online site where you can buy items from collectibles, furniture, antiques to pre-loved clothes, accessories and even tickets. It is one of my favorite online sites and I play the role of both buyer and seller. This Friday, July 15th, Ebay would sell and list items - and I mean not just regular items but items from celebrities and well-known personalities with the support of the GMA Kapuso Foundation.

People thought that GMA Kapuso Foundation is funded by the GMA 7 network, but I am just glad that I got to know more about the foundation and its advocacy when we were invited to meet up with the team last Tuesday for the re-launch of the Ebay Celebrity Online Ukay Ukay.

Mr. Henry Perez, Executive Director of the GMA Kapuso Foundation sat with us and shared with us how the team of only 23 people can make a difference in the lives of many Filipinos. "Ang kagandahan nito, 23 lang kame sa Kapuso Foundation.. It is not funded by the GMA 7, we're NGO.. we operate sa donasyon.. suportado kame ng GMA 7. Yun ang pinagpapasalamat namin." ("The nice thing about it is that there are only 23 of us in the Kapuso Foundation.. It is not funded by the GMA 7, we're NGO.. we operate through donation.. we are supported by the GMA 7. That is what we are thankful for").

It was indeed inspiring to know that only 23 people are working to build schools for those who had been victims of typhoon Undoy. Because of their passion to help, they receive more and more requests from different provinces, and like a regular savings account, the fund that they had gathered from donations for typhoon Undoy is being used up. Who wants another calamity to come to gather and raise fund? Thus the Celebrity Ukay Ukay was launched last summer, in which 3-day load of stuff had been sold in just a few hours. In this light, they are doing it techie style by launching the Ebay Celebrity Online Ukay Ukay. The fund would be used to build schools (with decent restroom), and the first beneficiary would be San Jose, Camarines Sur.

Mhel Tiangco, Executive Vice President and COO of the GMA Kapuso Foundation, who admitted that the first time she read a blog which topic is about her wardrobe, and who never had never bought anything online, inspires bloggers to share the word about the good cause. "What we want to offer you - young people.. for your profession, or hobby, or whatever you are doing is to be a medium of public service." She also shared why they choose Ebay.ph as the host for this campaign.  "What we are hoping is it can be a venue where people can share resources, share the love.."

The Ebay Celebrity Online Ukay Ukay which is headed by couple Ogie and Regine would list 7 new items this Friday, July 15th. Mark your calendars and load up on your Paypal and GCash. Most of the items have starting bids of Php 499.The items would be listed for 10 days, and the highest bidder would own the item.

Chris Tiu dropped by the event and proudly present the Jersey he wore during a 2010 international competition.

I am now eye-ing the Andy Warhol watch - to add to my collection, and simply because I love Andy Warhol and the casual design.

As a seller, I was curious on how the Celebrity Ukay Ukay would handle joybidders (or those who have bidded on the item and refused to pay). Per normal Ebay process and policy, admins have the option to block the bidder, and offer the item to the next highest bidder. So a little reminder to those who would bid, your bid is a contract. Only bid if you intend to buy and pay for the item. Let's bid responsibly and not take the chance from the others who would really want to buy the item and help the GMA Kapuso Foundation.

Here are some more items to be listed on July 25th. Please always check Ebay Celebrity Ukay Ukay for price and item description.
