I love it when brands (especially consumer electronics and gadgets) invite me to their events and product launches. It makes me feel like an expert in my own little tech world. Just last week, Asus launched Zenfone 2 and I was there to witness a historical event for media launches.
The truth is, technology events can be a little boring when key people talk about numbers, processors and product limitations. The best technology event that I had attended was when I was flown to London to attend a live stream launch of tablets and laptop.
Asus did not need to fly me to any country, instead, Asus CEO Jerry Shen visited Manila to officially introduce Zenfone 2 – the first smartphone with 4GB RAM.
The global launch of Zenfone 2 was held in World Trade Center. Jerry came in with a friend in tow. He named it Zeny – a cute, energetic owl. Zeny epitomizes the Asus – Zen characteristics which are present in the new Asus Zenfone 2.
The brand uses the tagline See What Others Can’t See, and true to its promise, we were able to see the beauty of the new Zenfone 2. The key people from Asus demonstrated the features interactively with direct comparison with competitive brands’ features. We have witnessed how iPhone and Samsung eat their own dust. I was not shakened because I am no fan or user of those brands 😉
ZenFone 2 features an all-new design: the 5.5-inch Full HD IPS+ screen has a large 72% screen-to-body ratio that provides a maximized viewing experience. There’s 13MP PixelMaster camera f/2.0 wide-aperture. Camera features, including Low Light mode, Backlight (Super HDR) mode, and Super Resolution mode, ensure incredible photos even in dimly lit situations. Front-view camera allows wider screen for better selfies.
Zenfone 2 is powered with 64-bit Intel Atom™ Z3580 processor with up to 4GB RAM. An Intel LTE-Advanced modem provides ultra-fast and reliable 4G/LTE connectivity.
The Asus Zenfone 2 is also the first smartphone with 4GB RAM. I love how Asus entertainingly presented the importance of having more space.
When it comes to design, Asus Zenfone 2 comes in different colors and textures. I love the two-toned units. Not much of a fan of curved phones though.
Joining the event was Kim Cam-Jones (a lifestyle and travel blogger).
Interesting how brands now are tapping lifestyle bloggers to promote their products. It is truly based on lifestyle that one must decide on what product/gadget to use. Never be swayed with what’s new, trending or FREE!
Asus also announced new accessories to go with the new Asus Zenfone 2.
Everyone seemed to love the LolliFlash. I was excited to actually experience it since Lenovo has launched the Selfie Flash during the Consumer Electronics Show in January (still waiting for it to come though!). The ZenFlash is an interesting accessory to add in your phone for better night time photos. I wonder if the LolliFlash can work as ZenFlash too? The powerbank comes in different yummy colors and sizes for different personalities and style.
At the Experience Hall, I checked how the HDR feature works. It was quite impressive to see how a single tap on a feature can let you capture details of the subject in full colors.
The Asus Zenfone 2 is a promising and stylish smartphone. The 4GB RAM memory is what really caught me. It is a lot more affordable compared to other new smartphones (like Honor 6+ and Oppo) with a more stylish approach. The global launch is at par to the international launches I have previously attended and witnessed. I was a bit disappointed though that the event started an hour later than the printed time (Filipino Time?).
Thank you so much Asus for having me and for allowing me to be one of the first few to own an Asus Zenfone 2.
