There’s a new Japanese Restaurant in Market, Market, BGC. Tenya, a specialty Japanese Restaurant that serves Tempura and Tendon. From its first store in SM Megamall, Tenya continuously expands and serves delicious tempura and tendon to the market in the Fort.Â

I first wrote about Tenya in this blog. The Tenya experience is different from any other Japanese Restaurant. If you want a steaming bowl of rice and a deep fried ebi (shrimp) coated in puffed up, crisp golden brown batter and dipped in a special glazed sauce, get your chopsticks and head on over to Tenya.Â
That’s what we did yesterday. I, together with the couple #seatsfortwo and #nognoginthecity had another Tenya experience.Â

Jonel, Marjorie, Rodel (Peter) and I (Printheth Tharah) Haha
For those who haven’t visited Tenya, don’t be surprised to see that the menu only gives you pictures of shrimps, tempura and tendon. During the opening of Tenya, I found out that in Japan, there are different specialty restaurants (like, Ramen, Sushi, Tempura..). Tenya is the finest tempura restaurant. What makes it different from the rest? The way of preparation and the specialty sauce!
The Don Tara Sauce has been specially made by a boutique soy sauce factory since the 1880s which is then shipped to every Tenya store in the world. It is thick. sweet. flavorful and absorb by tempura. It gives a different tempura experience with every bite. I love pouring it over my tempura. Very much like how I enjoy my chicken gravy.Â
Our server recommended that we also add pickles in our tempura. It gives a sweet-sour kick like a prune. Perfect to kill the umay-factor (I must say).

The All Star TempuraÂ
For those who are curious, Tenya’s Tendon is consist of these main ingredients –Â
Black Tiger Prawns or Vegetables
Tempura Flour
100% Canola Oil
and best enjoyed with Japanese Rice and Don Tare Sauce
Tenya is not just about Tempura, you see. Here’s Rodel’s favorite salad – the Spicy Salmon Salad with Shichimi. If you love sesame dressing and a hint of spice and hotness, you would love this salad.Â

I love Tenya Market Market store’s warm light and simple design. The store has access from the mall and infront of Serendra.Â
