October 22, 2017

The Penthouse at the Hotel Rembrandt is a quiet, intimate venue for dates, meetings and functions.
It recently launched its latest culinary offerings inspired by resident Chef Chester Delos Reyes’ travels and studies in Canada. The Penthouse has a traditional, rustic Victorian interior with its carpeted floor and detailed carved ceilings. Enjoy its lavish food offering that is a play of good taste, texture and plating.

Hotel Rembrandt is one of the 3 hotels under ArtStream Hospitality Management Group whose hotels are named after world-class artists, Hotel Rembrandt in Quezon City, Vitalis Villas in La Union, Hotel Luna in Vigan and Le Monet in Baguio.
The Penthouse wants to highlight the talents of their chefs whom they consider as artists in their craft. Chef Chester started his formal training in Manila and moved to Vancouver to pursue further studies. At the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts in Vancouver, he graduated as top in his class in 2011.

He came back to the Philippines to work at the Le Monet and was elected Team Leader at the National Food Showdown Philippines 2012, where the team was one of the National Top Finalists.  He furthered hone his craft and moved abroad to land a position at Four Seasons Hotel and Minami Restaurant. He also started a pop-up kitchen series called Akulturado which promoted Filipino-cuisine in Vancouver which was successfully received by Filipinos and foreigners.

During our intimate dinner I asked which of the famous personalities he would want to invite for dinner, the top on his head is President Justin Trudeau. I am not surprised, as I also find the Canada President a really interesting personality.

What brought him back in Manila is not the love for food, but a love to (now) his wife whom he married in January 2017.

His love for cooking and romance brought us to a fun and intimate lunch that lasted like a fairy tale.
Everything that is coming out of the kitchen looks lavish and appetizing. I am pleasantly surprised to see the menu and discovered that Main Dishes start at Php 390!

But before we go to the mains, here are some soup and appetizers to indulge in.

If you are a bit clueless on what base drink to mix with juices and garnitures, go for the Penthouse signature drink.

To end the meal, order the yummy desserts (usually served in a plank of wood for groups) or individually in plates. I love that they are not too sweet and has contrasting flavors – like that of Strawberry with Basil Leaf (that tastes like Mint Leaves) and the Sea Salt on chocolate tablea.
