Realme C1: Unboxing, Sample Unedited Photos + Quick Review
I never realized that an entry-level phone can surprise and impress me too much, I have to ask myself many times if this is even real?
Realme is an emerging smartphone brand that integrates powerful performance and contemporary style at an affordable price. You might have probably seen posts about Realme C1 ‘s introduction promo sale that happened a few days ago via Lazada that earned its 4.9 star rating.
For a smartphone that costs only Php 5,990, RealMe C1 offers big 6.2″ screen, long lasting battery life of 4,230mAH, and Qualcomm Snapdragon 540 Octa-Core Processor in a stylish body with Corning Gorilla Glass Protection – a combination that you would hardly see on a phone of the same class and price.
Realme sent me a unit to experience the #RealEntryLevelKing. I took the Realme C1 smartphone with me on a cruise last week for a quick test and review.
Unboxing Realme C1 + Design
The Realme C1 kit comes with the RealMe C1 Unit, charger, USB cable, manual, and a jelly case (no earphones).
Realme C1 comes in two colors – black and navy blue. I got the black one which is more fit for my style. Realme C1 has a sleek and simple design. The layout of the buttons and SIM trays are somewhat different from my current smartphone that I am using: volume controls and SIM card tray on the left, power button on the right, and USB, speaker, and headphone jack at the bottom.
I didn’t have a hard time using the phone as it is easy on the hands – to hold and to take photos (be it for selfie or landscape photo).
Realme C1 is the first in its price range to offer 6.2″ large screen which is 88.8% screen-to-body ratio. This gives a better viewing experience when watching videos, playing games, and taking vivid photos.
I really like its elegant and luxe feel. Realme has a 12 nanoscale laminated layers 2.5D back plate which is harder and is scape-resitant. I noticed that the unit and cover is fingerprint magnet (I have to always wipe it to keep it looking shiny – a minor inconvenience).
Realme Dual Camera + AI Beauty and Stickers
Realme C1 comes with 13M-2M dual rear-camera that ensures clearer profile and more natural bokeh photos.
This is a very impressive feature from an entry-level smartphone.
The front-view camera is quite impressive too. I think I would start taking more selfies with its AI Beauty feature that has 296 identification points that enable the phone to recognize the gender, age, and skin tone of people to accurately give the most suitable beautification mode.
I also especially love the built-in stickers that we played around. It makes taking photos especially group photos a lot more fun.
Realme C1 Battery Life: 4,230 mAh
Realme is powered with 4,230 mAh battery that can last a whole day. It is powered with AI Power Master that optimize power consumption of apps and control number of processor cores to avoid power waste. It also has Quick App Freezing which puts background apps in quick freezing folder which saves 5% of energy per 24 hours.
This technology and feature is something you didn’t know you would need.
I haven’t really tried watching movie or playing games with Realme but during my recent travel, the battery lasted for more than one day with me. I noticed though that the battery takes a while to charge – it might help to always have a powerbank handy.

One of the things I look for in a smartphone is a good camera that can take better photos. Although I rarely take photos using a smartphone because I mostly rely on my Fuji Camera for taking travel photos, I took the Realme C1 for a quick photo test.

The Verdict
Let me just repeat what I typed in the introduction:
For a smartphone that costs only Php 5,990, RealMe C1 offers big 6.2″ screen, long lasting battery life of 4,230mAH, and Qualcomm Snapdragon 540 Octa-Core Processor in a stylish body with Corning Gorilla Glass Protection – a combination that you would hardly see on a phone of the same class and price.
The only challenge while using the phone is that it takes a while to take continuous shot (probably because of the built-in AI beauty feature). The memory is limited too. But yet again, you get what you paid for – and for the price that you pay for Realme C1, you are definitely getting a lot.
I would say, I would keep this as a secondary phone – for taking selfies with those cute stickers (and this is coming from someone who rarely takes and posts selfies).
