Surprise!

February 20, 2015

Today is a happy day. I meant, happier day 🙂

I feel that I have everything I need in my life, and I always feel thankful for the little things and surprises. But I admit that at times, I feel that something is missing.. and when these times come, the universe has its way of pulling me back to happy zone.

I am glad to be in this zone again and to spread happiness 🙂

Last month I posted a blog entry asking you to write your stories and the things that you do. Your stories gave me different emotions – happy, depressed, inspired, worried, thankful. I find it even harder to choose one deserving soul to own my preloved Lenovo Yoga Laptop. I thought my blog has been a bridge for you all to tell your stories and inspire me and other people to do.

So, I thought of sharing someone’s story here.

Meet Rej.

He is a former colleague and a friend. I met up with him earlier today to give him my preloved Lenovo Yoga Laptop.  I thought of surprising him and recording a video of his reaction! I would want him to feel the same feeling I felt when I received the surprise package from Lenovo.

The first thing that he asked me was – why me?

His is an untold story.

He is one of the most hardworking people I ever met. I don’t know how he juggles work, family time and doing volunteer work when we both only have 24 hours in a day. He is also a devoted choir member of the church and true lover of nature. While most of us would keep pictures in our desk, he kept an indoor plant on his workstation (which I sadly found out died a few months ago – it was with him since his first day in the office).

He’s also a ThinkPad user which he uses for work, he of course cannot use it for personal or other business because of data privacy and security 😉

Every Saturday he teaches and tutors in the Alternative Learning System and prepares the students for Accreditation and Equivalency Exam. I was able to talk to him about this advocacy and he said that he feels happy to be able to help the students in passing the exam which helps them in getting better jobs. What draws me about his volunteer work is that he never speaks about it.

I am excited to know how he would use the Lenovo Yoga laptop to make teaching more efficient for him and the students. He is, actually very excited!

I am also giving him plus points for being animal -lover. He has pet dogs and cats 🙂

Anyway, I planned to surprise him and I was excited when he agreed to meet up with me after work. I actually wanted to visit them in Eastwood. I already asked my friend to come with me and record but we couldn’t find the perfect schedule. So, I had to record, host and play the role of Genie on the video.

It was awesome that Ate Bhey also joined him because she is planning to buy a Lenovo laptop and she wanted to see the machine that I am using 🙂 I am not good at planning surprises or doing video blogs, but I really wanted to record it. Check out the video below and let me know if you like it – and if you want more Haha 🙂

Thank you all for sharing your stories. I apologize that it took a while for me to choose the winner. I hope you find inspiration from this story. It is really a good feeling to bring happiness to other people. I know there are some who would feel disappointed – but just think that by sharing your stories here have brought inspiration for others.

Nice catching up with you Rej and Ate Bhey! Thank you too Ate Bhey for asking my opinion about laptops. I wish you the best! 🙂  It is nice to be friends with people who share your values 🙂 I miss my IBM and Mobility family #webleedblue
