Staycation at Meranti Hotel, Quezon City, Philippines

When we feel a little bit bored of the usual things that we do, in the playground that we all move around in, all we need is a change of environment to relax and experience little luxuries of life.

I must thank the person who invented #staycation or #daycation and I must thank Meranti Hotel for being our little sweet nest during one rainy Sunday.

Meranti Hotel is the first hotel venture by the same people who brought us Max’s Chicken, situated just across the original Max’s House in Scout Tuazon, Quezon City. Meranti is a malay word which means mahogany and true to its name, the lobby of the hotel is a celebration of fine wood aesthetics and luxurious displays.

Remember these?

Every guest is welcomed with beautiful drop log lights and Cobunpue chairs.

I brought my mom with me to the Meranti staycation. It was a long overdue date that I initially planned in Boracay.
The check in process was smooth and convenient. The staff just asked for my ID and we were escorted to our room at the 7th Floor.

My first time with Meranti was during the Max’s 70th Anniversary where we had a few drinks at the Roof Deck Bar. The second time was during the Valentine’s Date Dinner that they prepared for bloggers. #NognogintheCity adopted me that night. They were pushing me to sleep over but Cinderella needed to go home to momma.

Opening the door as if it is a sweet surprise to #motherbear, we both love the simple and functional room of Meranti Hotel. The room is spacious and the bed is huge. We felt like we can still accommodate one more bed spacer to join us that night.

Meranti Hotel Standard Deluxe Room is complete with amenities that every guest staying in for leisure and business would need.

A kettle/water heater.
Complimentary bottled water
Complimentary coffee and tea
There’s a minibar complete with drinks and snacks.
There’s a Smart TV set complete with cable connectivity and its own wifi router. You can watch TV, browse online, check weather update and other hotel information via the TV set.

I love the bathroom with working hot and cold water supply + and the rainshower head and another shower head for you to enjoy your bathtime. The toilet bowl is equipped with bidet (although I got used to more powerful water supply at home), I appreciate this bidet that not a lot of luxurious hotels have in the bathroom.

Meranti Hotel understands the guests’ needs, especially those who are sharing rooms. I love that the sink is outside the bathroom which still allows you to use the sink even if someone is inside the bathroom. The toiletries add colors to the simple, minimalist look of the room. There are mirrors everywhere with perfect lighting and a vanity mirror for doing makeup.
The bathroom is complete with:

Complimentary Toiletries: soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, shower cap
Fresh towels and bathrobes
Hair Dryer
Weighing Scale
My mom enjoyed the time watching TV while I do my work. I got an event that night and mom didn’t want to stay alone in the room. I assured her that Meranti Hotel is a safe and secured hotel (you need access card to be able to go to different floors). But because I promised it would be a mother-daughter date, I brought her to the event too. She was a happy “kid”. 🙂 It was even too funny that the Meranti Staff and Duty Manager was cool enough to listen to my mom’s Aldub stories 🙂

When we got back, we found the sweet note and turndown treats from the Housekeeping team. I love personalized notes like this!

At night, we decided to order from my favorite restaurant – Maple!
The old Maple restaurant in Edsa Shangri-la Hotel has moved to Meranti Hotel and I love how nearer it is to my place. We had my favorite – Chili Fries and Maple Burger.

Since Meranti Hotel is part of the Max’s Restaurant, I heard that you can even order from their partner restaurants such as Max’s, Yellow Cab, Maple, Krispy Kreme and have the food delivered at your room or function room.
I worked that night and I love the fast internet connection at Meranti. Uploading videos in youtube was such a breeze. 🙂 My mom had a sweet time watching Tagalog movies.
We woke up at 8 in the morning which was just perfect to catch the breakfast served at the Meranti Lobby.

Guests can choose a meal from their Filipino Breakfast or Continental Breakfast menu. The bonus? Guests can still enjoy the buffet spread of salad, toasts, fruits and soup.

I was hoping to take a dip in the pool that morning, but it started sprinkling. The pool at the roofdeck was still inviting even if there was dark clouds in the background.

I remember our sweet Valentine’s Dinner with friends. Read Rodel’s story.

Even if I basically worked and still wore my blogger hat during my staycation in Meranti, I felt the convenience that every guest needs. I felt the same convenience I had at home – from fast internet connection, comfortable bed, hot and cold water supply and perfect room temperature. The only difference is that – I don’t have TV at home and I don’t share (a gigantic bed) with mom 😉
Meranti Hotel is the perfect hotel for business travelers, family staycations and friends bonding. It is located at the heart of Quezon City, which is accessible by public transportation. The hotel is near restaurants and businesses in Quezon City. It is a perfect place to escape while still enjoying the luxuries of life.
